Let’s see how he reacts to this. That was Romero at his worst. For the other 10 games this year, he’s been sensational.

He cost us today. Big time. He has credit in the bank, but he needs to learn from this.

He's been brilliant this season and we wouldn't be where we are without him, yes he was an idiot but I believe he will learn from this.

Ange will be hugely disappointed by him tonight.

After a reprieve on the first 'red' we needed a cool head to diffuse the situation boiling over but instead he decided to pour a shitload of petrol on the fire.

Unquestionably a superb, uncompromising defender but until he reigns this in in pressure cooker games like this, he will also be playing close to the edge and we/the team will ultimately pay the price.

No he doesn't. Has he cost us once this season so far under Ange? Some on here...
It’s not just this season though is it. He’s got history of the same thing mate, it’s not something new. I said yes he’s been better this season but that doesn’t excuse a kick out and reckless tackle in a very important match, both of which most mature top level defenders wouldn’t have done.

It will be interesting to see how Ange handles this. Clearly a top defender but how long does he give him to mature. The temperature went up in the game and what happened was coming.
A crazy isolated moment is understandable but he had a good few minutes to calm back down and he didn't.

I agree thats annoying and his major thing he needs to upgrade in his game. Still he gives the team so much in 9/10 games especially in that system its too much to throw him completely under the bus. Who do you expect to do a better job for us? Guess what, we won't sign a few van Dijks.

STOP

Him losing his head had NOTHING to do with the RC. The play before that - yes, he was too emotional. But, not the RC play that actually cost us.

He tried to clear a ball in the box - he follow through went over the ball and into the shin. It was a tough play, and it was a red card. But it was not reckless, or from him losing his head, or playing dangerously. It happened. we move on, with Romero as a key player in this squad.
He lost his head in terms of the reckless kick out, then the tackle was just stronger than it needed to be.

I’ll get back behind him when he’s back ofc and he’s been phenomenal this season and his discipline has improved BUT the question is will he ever totally stamp this behaviour out of his game and a lot of us on here worry he won’t and if not that’ll cost us a lot of times unfortunately and the question becomes is it worth it when we could sign say another Van Der Ven but as RCB who is a top top defender but not a reckless one.

So disappointed with him tonight but he's still a key part of the team, just perhaps better off sitting these types of games out in future if he can't stay calm. I think you sign Tapsoba or another top class CB in January and use them as needed.

There was absolutely no intent in the foul that got him sent off. So you're miles off if that's what you are referencing here. The kick out, sure.

He got to the ball first, well in time to just block it normally, but he just can’t help himself.

It’s like he watches football matches from the 80’s in the dressing room before the game to get himself in the mood.

It’s fucking stupid.

No one is throwing him under the bus 🚌 but serious questions need to be asked about him long term if he doesn’t cut this out.

And we don’t have to sign Van Dijks mate, we signed Van Der Ven and he got up to speed very quickly.

As Ange says in his system it’s hard to get recruitment wrong if the player has the right attributes and attitude. Plenty of pacey ball playing top CB’s out there.

Im not giving up on Romero yet but we all hoped he’d turned a corner, let’s bloody hope he really learns from this one, Ange will be the perfect Manager to give him a dressing down but then get behind him and then when he’s back again that is his chance, if he messes up like this again then imo we need to think about if it’s worth it longer term.

Disagree and you wont convince me otherwise. Classic clearance and just unlucky to catch his countryman on the follow through.

I don't know if you're joking? But I honestly thought the same, he went in to smash the ball and caught the player on the follow through. It wasn't a 50/50 where he went in studs up

i am sorry, no matter how talented he is, and he is our best defender, he is becoming a liability.
Could have had a straight red earlier when he kicked out.
Cost us the points today, along with Udogie, who also doesnt seem to make the right decisions at the right time, at the cost of the team

It was an overly aggressive clearance, he didn’t need to tackle quite like that, it was borderline for me but it was the kick out before that I’m most disappointed in tbh as he was lucky that wasn’t a red anyway so it’s a combination of both as to why a lot of us are pretty peed off with him I think.
