He had red mist the moment he charged the ball down on the right wing. Although I haven't watched it back I think he got barged twice by silva in a short space of time and then reacted with that kick

You could tell he was still clearly raging and crossed the line

Wonder if the manager or the captain had a word with him to relax would have helped or made it worse. I think if ange called him over and said "Cuti relax a bit" he wouldn't have done that challenge

This is a very open ended question so feel free to voice your opinions, but if we were to get a big offer for him in the summer would you take the money knowing we could get a VDV like replacement or would you keep him knowing games like last night are a possibility with him?

IMO I wouldn’t cash in, he is brilliant, maybe one of the 10 best CB’s in the world but he’s just as much of a liability as Ramos at Madrid. They didn’t do too bad when he made mistakes, but their team has always been stacked from front to back.

A few minutes before it happened the fans behind us were saying his going to get sent off.
\if he had not charged up the pitch I don’t think we would have lost.

Madrid did OK with Ramos
Was about to post the same. I agree.

Ramos got sent off 28 times for Madrid. 28!!

As soon as each ban was done he was back in the team because he was a better defender than the others who stepped in when he was suspended.

Romero plays on the edge. I think he's a fantastic defender. When he leaves it'll be to Madrid or 1 of the top 3 sides in the world. No doubt. I accept that he'll get reds sometimes because that's the trade off with players like Romero, Ramos etc.

He is brilliant, but he needs to stop being a dick, Chelsea looked lost and we where going to hammer them when the second goal went in ( before it was disallowed) he needs to stop with the bullshit.

Vdv looks like his going to be out a long time.

He will get targeted constantly by players and officials we can play with 10 or 9 men it was horrific.

I need therapy

Romero has been immense this season. He's basically become the player we knew was there from the outset.

However last night he singlehandedly destroyed us. Not just the game, but perhaps our season. He didn't mean to, of course, but the consequences of his actions will go beyond dropping the 3 points last night. Without his red, VDV & Madders perhaps don't get injured. What's worse is he got away with one a few minutes prior. Usually you get away with one and think "wow ok, time to settle down there". He just seemed to get even more pumped.

I get that's part of what makes him a good defender, especially in this front foot defending style of ours. And of course I want him back in the team and hope he learns from it. However I can't not point out that his decisions last night will cost us a lot more than 3 points.

I don't understand why so many keep mentioning Ramos, in his time there wasn't var so it's totally different case now.

You can't blame his red on vdv and maddison getting injured. That's ridiculous

Well you can. If he doesn't get the red, it's a different game entirely. Football, like life, is a chain of events. If one link changes, the rest do. I know you could say that about even a throw in, but in Romero's case, the red led to Dier coming on and perhaps VDV covering the runner in Jackson. 10 men = more running = greater chance of injuries.

It wasn't a direct consequence, but I've no doubt that it was an indirect one.

Don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but Romero was also the one who gave the ball away leading up to the penalty. So, he compounded his mistake with the penalty challenge and getting sent off.

Also, I think VDV is the bigger loss of the two.

Pepe and Ramos got away with far more than they should have because they played for Madrid.

Our players will not be afforded that same luxury.
They were cuter than Romero and sneakier.

Also, the massive difference is Romero plays in the days of VAR. You have to account for that as a player and understand that you'll get away with far less in this day and age. If Romero can't understand that, then he almost becomes a liability instead of the asset he really should be with his talent.

It's not even a matter of difficult to control aggression. Just refrain from trying to break their legs mate. That tackle on Enzo last night was horrific and the stupid thing is, the foul play was after the actual tackle itself.

There was nothing cute or sneaky about Pepe.

Either way, he didn't play in the VAR days. I don't think its a fair defence to say Romero should be spared reds for kicking out at players or leg breaking tackles because a decade ago there was a nutter in Spain doing similar things and getting away with it.

Romero has been the player we believed he could be under Ange this season. Last night was a relapse. I think it's almost last knockings now. If he does it again this season, then serious questions need to be asked about whether we can rely on him going forward.

I think we're agreeing really.

What I'm saying is that Madrid players get away with things a spurs player could never dream of.

Therefore Romero needs to chill the fuck out.
