Not sure that was true for Karius aft the CL final.
Mentioned earlier in the year in the Skipp thread that it's what I admire about Liverpool's fans. They will absolutely back any player that pulls on their shirt whether they're performing or not.

You say that, but had he ever played for them again I very much doubt the match-going fans would have booed him. The sample of abuse he got most likely came from the twitter cesspit "fans" who have most likely never stepped foot in a football stadium.

We literally had fans who booed Emerson because he dared to be subbed on for the team he plays for.

£45mil on Porro in order to unlock Emerson Cafu Royal ? worth every penny.

Genuinely my favourite player right now! Love his attitude so much.
Very happy for him, his effort and ability was never really in question for me it was always just how much time did he need to properly and adapt from RB to RWB. Still need to improve his crossing but his stamina, workrate and defending are top drawer.

The good thing is if we do put him up for sale in the summer, and that's if, then we will definitely get a lot of interest and can get a very good price

Can someone explain the tactical change in his role that's unlocked him? Underlapping yadda yadda.

I think thats logically what a 343 requires. The 2 wingbacks slotting into midfield to help out in the centre whenever possible, since the attacking flanks are already covered by the wide forwards.

It's really simple - it is the underlap, which takes away his need to cross the ball. But, it also frees up Kulusevski on the wing - where he is more comfortable, and has more room to operate. (That's one reason why I don't think calls for Kulusevski to play centrally as a 10 will work out)

Putting respeck on the name for another consecutive week. Great performance and love how he loves playing for us, nobody celebrates his team mates scoring more than Royal.

He’s been a real example the last few weeks plus. First he improved because Doherty had moved above him, then we signed a big money RWB and he’s stepped up massively. He’s clearly working really hard to be the best he can be, he’s creating a chance of actually building a career here when 6 months ago he looked a goner.

Truly unexpected and welcome improvement from Royal...next thing is for him to work out what to do with the ball in the final third, still way too wasteful.

Not unexpected to any SPurs fans who watch how he goes about it rather than booing like fuck wits. Always had talent and application. The fact he's more mentally strong than a large minority of our support base is hardly surprising.

He was no more or less wasteful in the final third than any other player today. Usually he only lost it when other players were slow to give him an option. Then he'd just win it back again. As the stats above show.

I've slagged him off and I'm by no way convinced he's going to be a world beater but the bloke has so much heart and resilience it's unreal, getting so much stick on social media you have to disable comments and hearing people cheer because you're being substituted would break a lot of players, even older, experienced professionals.

He will be an absolute cult hero if he carries on turning this around.

Nah, definitely unexpected. The majority of fans (Spurs and other) have seen a woefully poor full back up until recently. Massive kudos to him for having the balls to turn it around, but it's been a surprise.
