With signings like this where in not overly familiar with the player I usually go by the reaction on places like Reddit from the selling club.
Most Barca fans are split between being disappointed that they saw so little of him, or feeling they got a fair deal because he doesn't fit their system and Dest would be the preferred RB. Despite apparently having a poor game against Getafe none of them have anything bad to say, and most neutral La Liga fans comment saying he's been an incredibly good RB in his time at Betis, particularly last season.
As long as he can actually defend and he isn't Doherty then that's fine with me.

We should be set in the full back position on both sides for the foreseeable now. Good full backs are hard to find, so that's a big step in the right direction.

Serge leaves for free next summer personally if Emerson is available now we should get him. Full backs cost 50-60m+ these days
I think with the style Nuno wants to play having some quality full backs that can get up and down is quite key so can understand given none of our RBs have the full skill set why we’ve gone for this
Also does seem less a case of prioritising and more doing the deals we can get over the line

I have limited knowledge of this guy but his stats look promising. He's a big guy too so will help with set pieces.

Amusing as he regularly got blasted on here as not being able to defend.
Anyway i know nothing about Emerson but hope he turns out to be a big improvement over what we have now.

Understandable though, he is better than no backup at all..
