Regarding the Lequipe article saying Levy was in negotiations with Betis over GLC whilst Ndombele's agents were present.

That's such a random thing to write, so random that I actually think it's true. Otherwise, why would you name drop him?

Pleasing, as i've committed at least 4 of my evenings (and early mornings) to watching Argentina play like absolute piss weasels just to watch GLC.

And what did you make of him having seen him?

He seemed to have forged a good understanding with Messi. Makes himself available in the final third, not scared to tackle, very good passer etc.

He didnt look great in the most recent CA games, but as others have said, Argentina makes even the greatest look distinctly average.

Personally i'm actually quite happy he had a poor CA. Betis cant justify asking for more than what we paid for Ndombele now.

I've not seen a lot of the copa America but when I have seen Argentina it looked to me that Messi has tried to take too much on himself coming deep and going wide reducing his potency whilst also restricting other players like Lo Celso, I lost count of how many times Messi came to take the ball from him and others when he should have been moving ahead of them to give them options and maybe more space, Messi was even taking corners for crying out loud, so all in all not the best tournament upon which to judge Lo Celso.

As others have said, really wouldn't judge him based on a few international games. Often Messi looks so-so when he plays for Argentina. With that being said, it hasn't made me any more excited about him, but the worries about what effect him having a good tournament would have on his price tag are now well and truly out the window at least, if anything it could swing in our favour.

Spanish outlet AS are reporting Betis being close to signing Borja Iglesias for €28m. I don't know much about their owner, but a team finishing 10th spending that much on a player smells like they're coming in to some money.

Sky sources: Talks between Tottenham and Real Betis over the potential signing of midfielder Giovani Lo Celso are OFF after clubs fail to agree price.
We are told Lo Celso - who has a release clause of £88m - wants to join Tottenham and that the north London club may go back in later in the window if they can sell Christian Eriksen

Strange as I thought this guy didn’t matter to us selling Eriksen or not

I wonder if that’s just us leaking it on purpose to put pressure on Betis. I don’t see any other buyers coming in for GLC in this market.

It’s disappointing news though on the face of it.

I'm guessing if we could have got it down to £50m, we would have just gone for it but seems they are sticking to £70m and at that price we'd have to sell Eriksen.

Bizarre because JJ was so positive.

I don't think you can blame Levy in this instance, if rumours are true that they're holding out for such a high figure. There's no way that Lo Celso at present should command a higher fee than Ndombele. This may well just be posturing, but there are several other CAM targets that would improve us and would be available for much less.

3 parties involved in every deal. Jj only gets itk from one of those parties. We obviously felt it was a good price. Betis wanted more.

I think this one will drag and drag. Levy had to get Ndombele over the line as quickly as possible to get the jump on other clubs and show serious support for Poch. There's less pressure now and he'll use every trick in the book to get the price down.
