If you include Alli, Eriksen, Lo Celso and presumably NDombele, then that leaves only one more space for Son or Winks.

I could be wrong, but I don't see us dropping Son and we would probably need another bonafide CM in there, which would point to Winks (or Dier/Wanyama if Poch wants it more defensive, although personally I think Winks can play that role).

I just think it's unlikely that we play 4-2-3-1 with Lo Celso and NDombele as the CM x 2.

Oh right, I see where you're coming from. I was envisaging a CM pairing of LoCelso, Ndombele or Winks in any format with Eriksen, Dele and Son behind Kane.

The problem with playing Lo Celso and NDombele together, is that I don't think Lo Celso is going to be particularly effective covering defensively when NDombele rampages forward.

And to be honest, we probably won't want him to do that anyway as we'd want Lo Celso further up the pitch.

We'd play a 4-3-3 imo. Dele and Lucas on the bench albeit with one starting the first two games due to that bullshit red at Bournemouth. Things change depending on form, injuries, rotation and tactics. City find a way, as do Liverpool, there's no need to worry about who starts or doesn't. Lamela and Sessegnon are also in the mix assuming both signings are made. This is how you win titles

Personally, I think I prefer having ITK in player threads/ITK read only than another separate thread for it.. I always leave the player threads I’m interested in open anyway, and having an ITK thread as well is just another page to leave open. Has worked well the past week or so IMO.

Sorry for putting this in here, I just didn’t want to spam the ITK thread!

Might be worth considering @Archibald&Crooks?

Squad depth is a luxury we have never really had previously. It means we can rotate to keep players fresh (hopefully we won’t go into the business end of the season with anyone who has played anywhere near 50+ games inc. internationals), and also bring some serious firepower off the bench to change games. Imagine having Kane, Dele, and Eriksen to come on for the last 20 mins of a game when we’re drawing with a mid-table team? Or Moura, Lo Celso and Son coming on?

We need to sign the guy first! Have a feeling we may be playing 2 up in a lot of games this season so not sure if Lo celso would be an alternative second striker or deeper or both!

LoCelso is very good defensively and likes a tackle. His versatility is one of his biggest assets in that he can play CM but also has the skillset to play at 10. If anything, he's better defensively than Ndombele.

I think we've had depth for awhile just not in that creative department.

Although I'll admit injurys throughout the squad lessened that depth last season.[/QUOTE]

Technically we have, but just not enough to win the league :)

Son covering for Kane, Llorente coming on late to win games, Winks/Dier/Wanyama being injured, but still having good enough players to finish 4th...all examples of squad depth.

But I agree with your point; we need to improve the squad depth if we're going to go up a level (or two).

I didn't know that.

That's even better then...sign him up Levy (y)

I dont think he'll play as a second striker when we have Son, Moura and Dele at our disposal.

I’d be over the moon if we added Lo Celso and Sessegnon this week, think added to Ndombele that would take our squad up to the next level from last season, however, if we then lose any of Alderweireld, Rose or Eriksen without replacing them also, we’ll just be back to square one, strengthened in one area but weakened in others. I don’t see losing Trippier as so critical, because we still have Aurier, KWP and Foyth is showing as a decent alternative.
I like Sessegnon long term, but is he really ready to step straight into LB now if seen as Rose’s replacement? I think not. Another season with Rose here allowing Sessegnon to grow into the role, and maybe then we’re about right. Equally if Rose goes, bringing in another LB, with Davies being seen as LCB cover still keeps the right level of depth and still opportunity for development. Equally could another season with Toby allow Foyth, and maybe Carter-Vickers, (plus further back Tanganga etc), chance to develop into first team level players.
One area left is the forward areas, losing Llorente leaves us a player light, so hoping for another forward in the Son mould, someone who can play up top as a goal threat but equally out on wider areas to ensure they are getting regular minutes to stay sharp when Kane is playing.
That’s a big ask admittedly, and a lot of cash outlay to bring all those in, so maybe a project forward, or some kind of miracle loan deal for Bale that limits intial outlay.
