For me, Dier is not good enough at CB nor DM for an elite level team....
Dier's big weakness is his lack of agility and dribbling ability. This is not required so much at CB but in midfield if you don't have it you just can't compete. In most other aspects he is very good and he'd be well suited to CB especially if well protected by a solid midfield.

Atletico will be tough competition and some huge clubs are rumoured to be circling. That said if we push hard and the money is right, then we'll be in with a shout I'm sure. We've never been more attractive win or lose on Saturday.
if you want something badly that’s selling out, you need to pay what’s on offer pretty quick or they’ll be all sold out.

He's poor when pressed and his first touch is suspect....I don't think he has the on the ball attributes to be at the very top level....we play the ball around a lot at the back and for me that doesn't suit Dier.....Look, he's a decent PL level player but if we want to be real consistent contenders, I don't see Dier anything other than a squad player for us...

So I’m late to this party and really don’t want to sift through all the pages. Can anyone tell me if any of the ITK’s have been around to give any info in this?

JJ said he was on our radar about 3 weeks ago. I think the consensus is that if the BBC reported it, it's true.

If we've put a bid in then you'd assume we'd spoken to the player, or his agent, and that he's happy to join us right? Just wondering how easy this deal will be to tie up one we've agreed a fee considering that he's already back in Argentina training for the Copa America.

I don't think we ever set out in a window not determined to buy players, I think Levy has always operated that if he does not believe it's a financially smart investment, he wouldn't pull the trigger. I think Lo Celso has value at 70m given his age and talent, just like Ndombele. Just hope he sees it that way, too (and for both of them).

It's not so much about being determined to buy players, but more so being laser focused on buying our top targets. Poch has brought up how Liverpool do their business, and how being committed in signing their top targets paid off for them.

Liverpool were fantastic at wrapping up the likes of Alisson, Keita, Van Dijk and Fabinho against serious competition. They did this by paying over the top but by also really playing the charm offensive and not stalling whilst weighing up other options.

The way the Ndombele news has gone, and now with this one suggesting we've stepped in with a £50m+ opening bid is suggesting to me that Levy has got the memo from Poch.

That said it is season ticket and membership renewal time so who knows. These two transfers do have a lot of smoke around them though which is very unusual for us so early on.

Take it you’re not English then? He was the **** that got Beckham sent off in the 1998 World Cup ( although Beckham was very naive and by the letter of the law probably had to go).

He was a **** then and is still one now. Good manager though.
Im a yank.

I honestly haven't seen him play outside of highlights. The David Silva comparison is apt. Though it's really hard to tell from highlights if he's truly two-footed. As it felt like he heavily favors his left peg... much like Lamela. But, like I said, it's so hard to tell from highlights.

There's a video of every touch in the recent Betis vs Madrid game earlier in this thread I believe. That certainly gave me the impression of a one footed player but it certainly didn't hinder him. He was fantastic.
