How do you know when they've never played together? I think they would be fine as a pair tbh

I gave my reasoning above. NDombele doesn’t yet seem to possess the dynamism or intensity to play alongside a less disciplined player in a two. And by all accounts GLC has only began fulfill his potential since being played in more attacking positions.

Though not the same be a bit like playing Scholes and Gerrard as the deepest 2. Or when England played Gerrard and lampard. We can't say for certain but I don't see it.

As a plan a think poch will use in diamon form. A deep laying cm, lo celso left and dombele right with lo celso the most adventurous of the 3. Alli at tip.

Who is going to tackle in midfield? NDombele doesn't seem to have the engine or inclination to press and harry whereas GLC by all accounts has only began to fulfil his potential while play in more attacking positions.

In an ideal world we would keep the ball so much that a deeper more disciplined player isn't needed but realistically even Man City, Barcelona, Liverpool etc.. set up with a disciplined DM or deep lying player.

This is from a story on our front page here, shows what Ndombele has done in only two games for us. No offence, I just found it interesting.

I'm on the move so typos....my point was I feel we need a Winks or Dier in midfield to compliment GLC/Ndombele. Those two alone are not disciplined enough.
Completely agree with you, both have played DM, Lo Celso not so much at Betis but was employed there at PSG sometimes. But it would be a huge waist of both players talents. Ndombele is a B2B and should not be viewed as a DM just because he can tackle, and Celso is a playmaker, ether deep lying or advanced, who can also tackle to a lesser degree but again you want both players to be free to attack together which could not work in a cm 2 regardless of the opposition. Celso is also a very good goal threat so you don’t want to drop him too deep or stop him from roaming. Long term I see him as a Modric who can score. But for now he shouldn’t have many defensive responsibilities placed on him beyond pressing, which he does well. And Ndombele doesn’t have the legs to be a DM and get up into the opposition box’s in Poch’s system. If we start both it has to be along side a dedicated DM.

It'll be the other way round. Lo Celso loves the inside right channel, and spraying out balls to the LB with his left foot. It was one of the key features of Betis' play last season, the amount of times he found Junior Firpo with a switch of play. Ndombele likes that inside left channel too.

He can smack em forward to Sess, sounds tasty.

Pretty sure Winks has mad more than 5 tackles, he got 5 alone against Arsenal and then there was that tackle when he was the last man against Villa, who collated this? :D

Dunno who or when it was done, but like I said, it’s from a story on our front page. Could have been before the Arsenal fixture for all I know? Don’t shoot the messenger.

Lo Celso is the natural replacement for Eriksen. I believe Eriksen will leave on a bosman free to Madrid or Juventus next season by January he’d have sign a pre contract. For now we have the bedding in period the transition. Sessegnon will take Rose place long term that said I am fascinated by what Pochettino has in mind once everyone’s fit and firing what he has in mind for midfield.

Yeah I think it'd be foolish to not be using Lo Celso for the short term gain of using Eriksen ahead of him just because Eriksen is more attuned to our system at the moment. We'd then end up with no Eriksen and an undercooked Lo Celso who we could have bedded in more.

Think it’s groin injury. Someone said he limped off at end but didn’t look serious. Took a very bad tackle to his ankle in the game. Reports bit confusing at moment but doesn’t sound to serious.
