For anyone who doubted , still doubt or didn’t get Lo Celso and what he offers if you watched the game tonight you should now understand! He’s absolutely class, just needs a run of injury free games in his actual position !
Yeah much better in the middle against a bunch of players who wouldn't get a game in the English 4th division, start crowing when he does it in the premiership. Again there was a lot of crap from him, before flashes of class, but don't think his workrate won't cut it against better teams.

Skipp was the star in the middle tonight, constantly winning balls back and then trying to drive the team on

Amazing what happens when you play him in his actual position and get runners around him.

Regardless of opposition I thought tonight was one of his best games in a long while. Picked the passes, great finish too. Give him a run in the 10 role and watch him shine.

I'll bite my own eyeballs out if he's played on the wing vs Villa, or any other side for that matter.

It's not that complicated Nuno. You have a CM problem. He is the answer, or the best option you have.

Lo Celso is so much better centrally than as a RWF, where his lack of pace leaves him exposed. He is so much better than Dele as a 10 and must play now.

i dont particularly rate Gio but he’s levels upon levels above dele. has to play ahead of him at the very least.

We've been missing that quick passing in the middle and more advanced positions. He showed what a difference it makes to have a player that can do that tonight.

He just needs to play consistently in his favourite position, allowed to play at his pace and build confidence. He has the vision and the ability on the ball. But he can’t be put on the wing or dropped regularly. Sometimes he might fade or not be ? on point but he’s still building up his match fitness and sharpness but I believe he will become a very important player for us. I have never doubted that since we bought him. But he needs to be allowed to play his game otherwise it’s pointless.

I'm sure having Son, Moura and Kane on helped, but when he moved into the center he was playing some nice quick balls.

Just picked the tempo up.

Based on that performance he deserves the No. 10 role for league matches, but with the international calendar and quarantine situation should we really be counting on him this season?

I can see some sense in trying to build our first XI around players who won’t miss two-three matches after every international break. As such I wouldn’t blame Nuno for sticking with Ndombele. What I would blame Nuno for is if he continues tasking Dele with being a creative CM, there’s no sense in that at all.

This isn't even a one-off really. Yes we haven't seen a performance from him like this in a while but he had a patch in the league quite a while back where he looked the same so we know he can do it against tougher opposition.

It could turn out to be a massive plus for the side to have him replicate this performance and for Ndombele to continue improving.

Is that what he has been doing? Can't really tell because he has created fuck all!

Well, I guess I mean the most attacking of the CM3. Given the goals we’ve shipped in the league I think we need both Skipp and Hojbjerg in there, and for me it really needs to be a true creator partnered up with them. Under that reckoning Dele can’t be the third CM so that leaves it between Gio and Ndombele.

Lo Celso probably deserves it on merit but I think the international situation tips it toward Ndombele. The creative midfield role is of utmost importance and I just don’t see how we can build around a player who will have to quarantine for 10 days nearly every month until Easter.

Hopefully something will change with respect to the red list or lack of an exemption for elite sportsmen but until then I wouldn’t fault Nuno for leaving Lo Celso in the cup XI.
