It's not easy though. We have 7 players for 3 midfield positions atm. If we have enough space in the squad I would still keep him. The fact he gets injured means he won't be insisting on being a regular starter anyway.

For now we maybe play Kulusevski as the 10 against Utd and Werner on the left. Maddison is back in full training next week so hopefully will play a bit of the FA Cup. Definitely need to find a good replacement for Hojbjerg though. Then it's GLC essentially as deep cover.

Such a shame. One of my favourite players to watch but his style of play invites contact and he seemingly doesn’t have the physicality to deal with the blows.

Everyone is doing their hamstrings this season so it seems a bit harsh to single him out but this does seem to sum up his career here. He comes in for a few games, looks great, and then he’s out again. It must be very frustrating for him too. I wonder if he does better in Spain where the league less physical and intense?

Have to move him on this summer. Love the player but just not annywher near reliable enough.
Yeah it’s a tricky one, considering Maddison is also injury prone having two players in the same position that have constant injury concerns is far from ideal. I wonder if long term we move Kulu into 10 and come summer look for a RWF rather then another 10.

Everybody loves Ange and his high-energy system, and rightly so, but it feels like it's taking its toll, with muscle injuries all around. Serious ones, too. So many Spurs players have missed multiple weeks this season.

The system is fine, the squad is not. Not yet anyways, particularly with the other injuries and suspensions we've had this season.

Once we can properly rotate players without a significant drop off in quality, it'll all settle down IMO.

Could say the same for Maddison really looking at his injury record.

It looks like Maddison played over 30 games a season for Leicester for every season he was there. That’s many more than Lo Celso has ever managed in a season for us.

I would also say Maddison’s contributions when fit are beyond doubt. He was a very important player for Leicester and shows signs of becoming one for us too. Whereas there have been question marks about Gio’s suitability ever since he joined. Don’t get me wrong, he shows signs of his quality but his impact on this league is nowhere near the impact Maddison has made.

Really? Last stat I saw GLC has been available for less than a 3rd of our games in the time he's been with us. I didn't think Maddison was anywhere near that low.

Roughly in the last 4 seasons Maddison has missed 43 games Gio over the same period has missed 46 games. That’s almost the same. I mean like @DannyNZ points out above Bentancur had missed 57 during the same period. Point is if you’re going to say Gio is injury prone, which he is, you can’t ignore the others who also are.

This isn’t a debate about who’s better, I didn’t mention anywhere that Gio is a superior player just pointing out he’s not the only player we have that has issues and in regards to missing games he’s no worse then others. Sure you can go back further but then you’re not equating for a players age and the gradual weakening of the body through ware and tear.

Ultimately Gio has been excellent for us recently and he isn’t the only one who has suffered from injuries this season. Hamstrings especially seem to be rife. Hopefully the above report is true that it isn’t serious and he’ll only miss one game.

Maybe come end of season the injuries make us decide to move him on but from an ability point of view he fits the system perfectly and he can most certainly do it in this league no problem.

Yep. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s used as bait for another transfer in this window or the next. Clubs on the continent are broke. I would try punting him to Real Sociedad in part exchange for Kubo. We can then control his valuation, while helping them to reduce their sell on obligation to Real. It’s a Don Fabio special

Generally warmer climate too. All the var stoppages and the cold in this country doesn't help. They seem often quicker with var in La Liga too.

Yeah I dunno if it's really comparable with Bentancur having a big absence. Maddison I'm not really across his but I'll take your word for it! Hopefully he doesn't turn out like GLC. In 2 and a half seasons playing for us GLC has now had 12 separate injuries. That seems like a lot to me.
