He is going to start off as a box-2-box - competition with Sarr, and to a lesser extent Bentancur.

It will take him a few years to adjust to the pace and strength of the PL to be trusted in the 6 role, imo. In the meantime, like Sarr, he looks ready to step in and be productive as an 8.
I think that is overly optimistic (that he is ready to step up as an 8 in the mean time). Bergvall has 1 international cap and no exp in the top 5 europe leagues. He is 18.

I think he will get the Veliz treatment; no games this season, loan next season, and maybe a few sub apperances the season later. Even that is probably too optimistic.

We need to stay grounded with our youngsters.

I did not say he was coming here to start...

He will be part of the 1st team set-up. The 8 role is the easiest to adapt, and carries the least risk for a player adapting to the league.

As for the second part - he is not here this season - so of course he won't get any games. And, I don't think he signed here to go out on loan next season.

Ok i misunderstood you sorry.
At this stage I'm just hoping that he will turn out to be a PL-level player. Maybe I'm too pessimistic.
I think we probably made more commitment to him that he will get games in PL next season, otherwise we probably wouldn't have got him ahead of Barca. But in what form that is, I don't know.

However they end up, having three players with such versatile interchangeability like Sarr, Benta and Bergvall can only be a good thing going forwards.
And with the ages of Bentancur and Bissouma, we've already got a certain extent of succession planning for the next few years.

It's quite nice to have a core of 27ish year olds, with a bunch of talented 18 to 20 years olds coming through.

I saw plenty of videos of him getting into the box though. He looks good in the air as well. Maybe he'll be like Bentancur and play each role. I just think he needs to have a bit of license to get forward as he's so dangerous in and around the box.
FYI, Bissouma and Sarr both average more shots per game (1.2 & 1.3) than Bergvall (1.0).

As a number 6 in Ange's system he will still get chances to finish off moves, but won't have the pressure of being the main threat from midfield.

Personally, I think he will be an 8 for now that later moves to a 6.

I think the telling thing is that GLC is going to be down to 1 final year in the summer. I doubt we sign him on for longer. Given his age he should be a threat to the first team but he's only really a good squad player. I think regardless where Bergvall ends up we should look for one more in midfield this summer. I'd rather a squad player be a young prospect with the potential to be in the first team.
I agree, no way he gets a contract extension with his injury record. I hope we access Devine and moving Kulusevski in preseason before bringing anyone in though.

Donley too. IMO our midfield is pretty much sorted, rather us going for an elite WF instead

Makes sense, getting back to full fitness for the run in

I’d love for that to be the case but it’s pointless pinning any hopes on him staying fit. Would’ve been good even for a 10-15 min cameo off the bench today given that Bentancur and Maddison almost certainly won’t see out the game. Tactically I think Gio is a much better option than PEH and Skipp today to counter Brighton’s relative strengths and weaknesses.

Gio, Bissouma, Son and Solomon will all probably be involved in the squad Saturday as it stands (personal opinion). A bench which could include the likes of Dragusin, Emerson, Davies, GLC, Hojbjerg, Johnson, Solomon, Bissouma & Son is ridiculously strong compared to what we've seen the last couple of months.

My guess would be...

Vicario

Porro Romero VdV Udogie

Sarr Bentancur
Maddison

Kulusevski Richarlison Werner

I just think he will give Son & Bissouma a bit of a rest and have them ready to come on if necessary with them only returning to the club a few days before the game.
😉
