Gio should start Thursday with Deki out wide on the right again, thought he was good there today.

A Gio goal with a knee slide in front of Poch for good measure please.

I'm not sure he ever had any problems with Poch? IIRC he came to the club and was injured for pretty much all of the time Poch was in charge.

Anyway, I think he's likely not playing because we plan on selling him this summer and Ange see's no point in giving minutes to a player that won't be around in the long term. I think it's kind of sad because were it not for injuries he'd likely be perfect as a #8 in this team.

Tempted to see him start with Bentancur against Chelsea in midfield. When they've been on the pitch together, look to be on the same wave length and thought dovetailed quite well. I remember that first half hour against Villa at home and there were lots of neat touches and they both kept the ball moving quite well I thought.

Which is likely true but then he goes and plays PEH when Biss is off form. This is one of the things that bugs me the most. I’d actually respect his decision not to play Gio more if Ange was playing Bentancur or even Halll instead of PEH when Biss was off form. But he has set a precedent by starting PEH yet won’t give Gio the same chances regardless how good he might have played previously.

Sadly looks like Ange doesn't rate GLC and is happy to keep playing a sadly out of form Maddison when we are crying out for someone with a pass and move game like GLC. On top of that he shows a bit of fight that we only really see from Romero and Richy. Lot of good things about Ange but set pieces and not playing GLC more aren't among them.

I like Gio but you can't trust him. You could start him and he may play well but it will only be a matter of time before he is injured again. I fully see why ange doesn't trust him .

Harsh reality is, we need to sell him this summer. We can’t have him getting any ideas about staying and winning his place in the team.

Gio will be off in summer, he's not been given a fair chance by Ange for one reason or another.

Shame as really like him but just hope we sign a decent replacement as clearly we can't rely on Maddison all season and as much as Kulu could develop in that position, right now he is no where near say Odegaard, KDB, Macallister etc levels so if we want to close the gap then we need to sign a good replacement if Gio goes this summer.

Given the links to Baena, Eze, and Gudmundson, it’s clearly an area of the pitch we are looking to improve on.

Lol. Maddison missed more games because of injuries this season.

Well he was out for a long time. Not sure why you find our players being injured funny though?

Is your point that you trust lo celso more? Do you know something that every manager since he has been here doesn't?

It's such an odd situation. I know it was only a few mins again, but isn't it obvious to everyone he's our best player on the ball? He was the only player I was confident would control the ball and make the right decision under pressure yesterday. There is a reason he's a starter for the world champions. I've mentioned it before, but it reminds me of Poch playing Mason and Bentaleb over Dembele in his first season. In my opinion, Gio should be first choice in any of the central mid spots. It's not as if our DM's are a brick wall in front of the back 4.

He makes us tick so nicely every single time he plays.

Not sure if he's constantly has niggly little injuries or Ange doesn't trust his fitness over 60mins + but its so strange that he's not been given more minutes, its my one big selection criticism of Ange tbh.

Gio is surely off this summer, he's far too good to sit on the bench of any team imo.

There are a few players that are difficult to trust at the moment. Some of them start most of the games. Gio, imo, has livened things up every time he's come on lately, and has done more in a few minutes than others have done with so much more time to impress.
