Testimonials were a thing when players earned about the same as a High St Bank Manager. It gave them a retirement nest egg. Don't think top flight modern players need that any more. Would be nice to thank him for his service though since many have gone without any real recognition.

He definitely deserves some recognition and suspect we will do something at the last game of the season although not sure whether that would be decided by that Brentford game (If no testimonial although I would hazard a guess that the money would go to charity)

Absolutely gutted if this is the end of him here, not that he should really play going forward, but for how it's ended this season both for him and for us. It's not a period befitting what he's given us. He's been some keeper on balance over these years.

That he's out for the season probably also means a couple could do with a good look at themselves for buying into that refusing to play absolute horseshit.

Absolutely deserves a testimonial, but was the last one we did for Ledley? Shame if he doesn't get recognised as although he's regressed he's been the captain for almost 8 of those seasons and he's obviously well respected by club and national peers. Would be a shame if we didn't honour it in some way.

Fucking hell, this is so sad.

At our last home game of the season, I propose that we honor Lloris, our world-class goalkeeper and gentleman, by showcasing a montage of his exceptional saves and granting him a standing ovation as he takes the field before the match commences. It's the least we can do to show our appreciation for his incredible contributions to the team

Yeh I agree. Testimonials now are essentially just a thankyou, and normally the proceeds (at least for Prem players) go to charity, or the player's foundation if they have one. Lloris certainly should get one on that basis.

Isn't he still gonna be under contract? He's not very good anymore sadly so hard to see who's gonna take him on big wages. Think it's telling that no one is particularly bothered by the fact Forster is deputising.

I'm clearly not as sentimental as others but I really hope that was his last game for us.

He's been a great servant for us, it's not a great way to go out obviously but I really don't want to see him play for us again other than a testimonial. He should have been moved on a couple of years ago.

There's no room for sentiment at the top level of any business. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

If fairness there is always room for sentiment in football as it's not like other business. It demands it, as that you care about the thing is the whole reason it exists, so it'd be a job to stamp out how fans feel about players and their history with us.

I thought he had another year on his contract 🤷‍♂️
He does and I would not be surprised if we keep him while our new keeper is settling in and as a locker room leader. I guess the question comes down to home grown and if we can afford to have 2 non homegrown keepers. Maybe if we can get Raya or Pickford as a homegrown 1st choice.

Perfect ending for Kane and Lloris if they could lift a trophy next season.

Not saying this is the case, but instead of making it seem like the club captain has been dropped for the rest of the year, you just say it's a season ending injury to save face.
Mentioning body language in here often gets a deserved clobbering...But I felt Ryan's 'He's out for the season' in the presser was kinda said in a way that brooked no further discussion. We'll get the answer in a few years when the books come out imo.
