I think the majority of teams are on the lookout nowadays for a keeper who's good with his feet.

Lloris is certainly not that. MLS would be a great move for him.

if not sold his contract will be terminated before the deadline so he can move for free after, they wont keep him on the list. its bonkers that there isnt a team in france, the netherlands, usa or belgium that wouldnt be improved with hugo as number 1 for a couple of seasons

I’m not a big fan of Forster as I think he is just too slow to get down and cover his angles. As a shot stopper Lloris is still light years ahead but his achilles of distribution means the modern game has moved on from Lloris. Would be worried if we had an early injury to Vicario and had to rely on Forster for any length of time.
Maybe so, but very difficult to keep a quality number 2 goalkeeper happy when you're not in the Europa League or Conference League. I'd wager one of Ramsdale or Raya wanting out from Arsenal in a year if they qualify for the CL again. I don't think any team who wants consistency in the league wants to be rotating keepers in it. As for us i'd probably stick with Forster to tide us over till next summer and then look to upgrade with another HG keeper if possible. Registering Lloris over Forster would cost us elsewhere in the squad.

I wonder if a player Ange might look at is Matt Ryan who I believe is out of contract next summer. Not HG though.

People really need to stop saying this, MLS isn't going to use a designated player spot on a goalkeeper.

He should just go back to France.

Maybe wages being one limiting factor also?

It will be most definitely. I doubt there's a single club small enough to have him number 1 and be able to pay his wages in full apart from the MLS and Saudi. I think we'll end up releasing him and giving him half his wages for a year.

I'm surprised he hasn't got interest from the Saudi league.
Doesn’t their window close a couple of weeks after ours? If so, maybe that’s his backup plan.

All a bit sad to see really, as is some of the disrespect shown to him on this board.

The whole club has been a complete mess for ages and we may never know if Hugo was a symptom of that or a cause but overall he’s been a fantastic keeper for us.

A genuine question. Always saw this thing about loyalty payment. Will he be dued one if his contract was mutually terminated?

I just hope for the best outcome for him to leave this club in the best possible way after so many years of staying with us.

Hugo has been declining steadily since Poch's last season. He has had some absolute shockers. All keepers make errors, but if they have faults in their game the objective must be to overcome them; his distribution is worse now than when he came to the club. Can't kick long, or pass short accurately on a reasonably consistent basis , rarely throws the ball. Time to go. the fact that we cant move him on is another glaring example of not recognizing when a players on a downward curve. I hope he leaves with his dignity in tact, and does well in his next pursuit.

Many MLS teams are looking young with a sell-on model. Doubt there is much interest.

According to this Lloris is on 100k pw verified, and Forster is on 75k pw albeit not verified. Vicario is on 75k pw verified as well.

I really struggle to believe we would pay a backup keeper such as Forster this much. Maybe this was his previous salary? Does anyone actually know what Forster is on?

If these wages are the case I would hope both Lloris and Forster leave and we get a new backup keeper who has a better fitness record but that'll have to wait till next season most likely.

Pretty sure all parties have agreed Hugo is leaving and Postecoglu really confirmed what we all know yesterday. We haven't released him because it would be better if we can get a fee for him but I think that ship has sailed so we will release him this week and I'm sure it is all very amicable. I actually think clubs know he will be a free agent and he'll find some interest after that happens.
I wouldn't be surprised if if he did just hang up his boots to be honest.

Surely there's no way Forster is on £75k pw?

I don't mind Forster he's a very okay back up, but even then I think we could upgrade or second. I'd be utterly shocked if he is on 75k though.

I really do feel for Lloris though, sounds like it's less of a money issue and more that he want's to stay in europe and be a number 1 somewhere, possibly a number 2 with guaranteed cup games or something depending on the club.

Maybe there's a small amount of denial on his part that he's no longer at the age and level he once was. Must be a strange and horrible feeling almost winning another world cup with your country only 8 months ago being their number 1 still then all of a sudden he's no longer Tottenhams captain, number 1 and not many clubs want him as theirs.

Really hope we can find somewhere for him for his own benefit. I'm sure he'd do a great job for someone for a year or 2 then maybe retire or take a last Saudi pay check.

No he's surely not on 75k. Bissouma on 55k? If true we should be looking to extend his contract

I may be on my own here, but bin Forster an have Hugo as 2.
From a footballing point of view, I'd wholeheartedly agree with you and I'd love to see Hugo stay til he hangs up his gloves.

That said, it would be insanity to have a backup/cup keeper taking a non-HG spot in the squad
