Their sponsorships are still dodgy as fuck, which in turn boosts their FFP boundaries, as far as I'm aware.

It’s a legal loophole AFAIK, which has been closed for future club purchases but they’re still allowed to do it. Artificially inflating their sponsorship with Etihad to pump more money into the club, however I suspect with the tv rights deals, CL revenue and other earnings the money coming in doesn’t need to be as high as it had to be 10 years ago.

Whilst city keep putting the premier league on the global map, the PL/FA won’t bring charges to them, if they do, will be a slap on the wrist.

the money they bring in for them, goes beyond punishment, unfortunately it’s how the world works.
This is the gentlemen who will be judge and jury on Man C, never know he might do the right thing..

I dunno, after all he is an Arsenal fan.

He is a strong believer in fairness and in the power and benefits of sport and has a keen appreciation of its social, political and financial aspects. He has participated in sport all his life, is a member of the MCC and Arsenal FC, and still regularly plays real tennis and ping pong. His knowledge of the sports scene and the issues which arise, both commercial and regulatory, in relation to the governance of sport, and its competitions and events, makes him a sympathetic hands-on tribunal chairman and a successful mediator. He has recently initiated an ad hoc working party consulting and reporting on the Impact of Covid-19 on sport disputes resolution procedures, supported and published by LawinSport.

Regardless of his club affiliation his experience on CAS etc will lead him to the right judgement.
Can't think of any other case where the PL has charged a club as they have done with Man C , so if found guilty the only thing that will mean anything is a points deduction as a fine is a waste of time, hopefully that will deter other cash rich owners like Newcastle from artificially doping their clubs.

PS Forgot Everton have been charged , result due in autumn so that should give an idea of what sort of punishments are handed out if found guilty.

He was 16. We all do stupid shit at that age.
Maybe, I hated football until I was in my 30's

But even so, it adds fuel to the rumours about him still disliking Spurs?

I don't even know why it annoys me so much, it's actually funny if he genuinely believed that...

Can you take all the Oil money/FFP/everything wrong with football today chat to an appropriate thread, and not clog this one up with your theories.

Regardless of whether they affect Maddison’s choice or the relative appeal of clubs.

Could be Arsenal’s most important player next season then!

It's never going to be as straightforward as 'Well Newcastle finished higher and are in the champions league so players will want to go to them more'.

It's never that simple. History/location/wages/culture etc... all go into it. It's why Arsenal still had an alright pulling power despite spending a few years outside of the champions league. Chelsea are still gonna be fine. Man Utd were fine the couple of years they missed champions league. Liverpool will still be fine this year without CL football.

League finish and CL football obviously helps but it's not a sure fire thing. Newcastle have the money which helps but again, not a sure fire thing.

As has been said, it may not be the main factor but his wife will be part of the factor. There's just so many moving parts in these types of decisions, that's why there's all this negotiating.

On Maddison himself, I think he'd be a very good fit for us. We've missed that creative spark + goals from not the front three. Would love to have him at ours. I think we've got a good appeal and whilst a bad season hasn't helped I still think we're an attractive prospect. I also can clearly see why Newcastle both want him and why he'd wanna go there. I hope we can convince him to come to us though.

My brothers mate met Maddison on holiday early last summer. He came across as really down to earth and at that point was expecting to move to Spurs.
When the topic touched on his feelings towards Spurs he passed his previous comments off as something stupid he said when he was young.
Pinch of salt and all that just thought i would share.

do we have to endure another summer with everyone posting those old social media posts and saying he supports Arsenal. We had it all last year as well, its tiresome. He doesn't support Arsenal. Hes a Coventry City fan, who liked Man Utd when he was a kid.

FWIW, i still think Harvey Elliott is a little scrote because of the Kane vid. Not so much for the vid itself, but more for the apology being as shite at it was.

He seems Toon bound unfortunately. Quite disappointing considering we've tracked him since his Norwich days.

Does Maddison want higher wages or CL football , he is going to want a decent rise on his reported £5,720,000 per year.
Quite a funny article below, Newcastle have the advantage because they have more players in the England camp. :)

When it comes to wages, Howe has already warned that the 'big clubs will all dwarf us', which will make it 'hard to attract the very, very best players'.

Or depending on your agenda, he will spend the week with the England captain

Normally part of the fun of signing a new player is seeing other fans grumpy because they didn't sign him .... Slightly weird one of the fun parts of us signing Maddison would be seeing how grumpy some of our own fans are because they were wrong.
