So either he’s not making the squad for Utd or another Ange surprise special like Bentancur but best case imo would be Maddison on the bench.

Either way if we can get Maddison and Solomon back for at least City that would be massive.

Really can't see him being involved this weekend. A little different to Bentancur as Ange has confirmed Maddison rejoining training from Monday.

Bentancur was just out of the blue after no comments either way in the build up to the match iirc

I think we have enough quality without Maddison to beat Man UTD, but if he's there on the bench it gives us a very nice option.

A friend of mine who gets up for most home games was telling me how Maddison's injury didn't surprise him given how every team just kicks him up in the air. Reckons that the TV camera's don't catch how much the opposition go after him and how little the ref's do to protect him.

He got fouled on average 4 times per game in the PL games he played for us this season. That's only fouls that are called by the referee too. And we know there's been plenty of times where they haven't been given.

That was definitely chelsea's plan of how to beat us - they were kicking him from the first minute.

Perhaps a little fib from Ange here? Would love a Bentancur surprise inclusion.
POK says he starts training next week, Ange says he’s not even back training yet.

Some cover up going on in he’s really fit but logically everything suggests he’s not, be good for him to get 30+ mins against city.

So Ange you have Maddison in your starting line up today even though he hasn't trained.

I never said he hasn't trained. I only said he hasnt trained with the main group. He's been running rings around the U17s all week and clearly looked ready to start today.

I would say a start is unlikely, and maybe not even the bench - but with Maddison, I think his fitness is a bigger issue than "training with the group". If he can show he is fit, and that the ankle is fine - I think he could go straight back into the squad. He knows Ange's tactics, and Ange knows what Maddison brings to the table.

He also one of the leaders so having him around the team will help especially with Son away.

We just need him back, but I’d much rather (as I appreciate we all would) he comes back when he’s 100% ready. I think we’ve shown enough that we can go and get a result at United even without Maddison.

So as nice as it would be to see him on the bench for United and know he’s basically there, the way we’ve carried on picking up points since he’s been out means I’m more than happy for him to be back for Brentford/City and to really kick on again from there.

WLB also said don’t be surprised to see him in th squad and Ange will decide today if it’s worth the risk.

So Ange said that Maddison still wasn’t back to full training with the group yet and that it is difficult to say how close he is to a return until he sees him with the group. Maybe he was training today with the group so Ange wasn’t lying 🤥 ?

After tomorrow we have 2 weeks (almost) till we play again. Doubt he’ll take any risks with Maddison
