Gone under the radar that O'Keefe has said today that Friday will be touch and go as to whether Maddison makes it.

Originally I thought he'd start and play 60 but thinking we might have to settle for him being on the bench

Interesting. Be great to have him on the bench.

Definitely wouldn't be starting him after a long lay off against a team like City. Off the bench would be huge though. Hopefully he makes it.

Off the bench v City and then a full week to Brentford to gear him up to maybe play 60/70 minutes. Would be fantastic.

Can't wait to see him back on the pitch. I've missed watching him play.

I wouldn't say lost, they're still almost top of the league and he hasn't played this season except last game. Just not the juggernaut they are with him in the team.
They are when both Rodri and de Bryne are out though. They have both (at the same time) missed 4 league games in the last 2 seasons and City lost all 4 games.

Pretty sure that every single game City have lost this season was when Rodri was unavailable (off the top of my head I can recall Wolves, Arsenal and Villa; all without Rodri)

Edit: Just checked. the only other loss this season was against Newcastle in the EFL Cup (you guessed it, Rodri did not play)

Re: Maddison, hope he's fit and available for City.

They're still pretty much lost without De Bruyne.

They might have their midfield maestro back, but soon we will have ours back too.

Bissouma has been pretty poor since his send off against Luton. He has been red carded twice, we cant afford that kind of lack of control a third time.

8 points off liverpool is too much I'm afraid
I think of we had beaten United and it was only 6 points I'd fancy it more. Liverpool fixtures are fairly kind now to end of the season too, but when Europe starts back up and if they get a few more knocks I'd fancy us to get close to them.

But they have to play 17 of the 19 teams in the division, how is the fixture list kind to them? Unless most are at home somehow?

Maybe kind was the wrong word. But they only have Arsenal and United away out of the top 6 left for them. City, Chelsea and us to visit them. But that's the last I'll say here as this is the Maddison thread.

Think I was as there was only 1 team that could overtake them. But then again that one team could go on and win 19 games in a row
Yea they were caught with a larger gap way further on in the season.

This season is very open with the top teams taking points off each other. There are lots of points left to play for. Way too early to believe an 8 point gap can’t be closed.

Europe will return soon and I would guess teams will suffer injuries as they schedule picks up. It really depends if those above us have it as bad as us on the first half of the season. It is funny Liverpool complaining over missing Trent and Salah. 2 first team players out, how tragic for you. If, and it's a big if, we can go relatively injury free the last few months we could put another run together like the first 10 games when we only had Bentancur missing from our best team. Then we just see where it takes us.

A league push is way more than we could expect during a transition season anyway. Top 4 would put us back on track and that should be plenty achievable. I would love us to win this FA Cup though.
