A 80% fit Jan is twice the player Sanchez is. With the amount of the ball we were going to have yesterday he wouldn't even have needed to be at 100%.

If Jan or Dier were going to be eased back, then they would have got some minutes against Newcastle. They have had no time this season, and is the NLD the game to make wild changes?

We have a lot of fixtures and Jan will get plenty of games, but this is likely to be his last season here imo. Same for Dier. The purge has begun and there is little logic to it.
I'm not sure bringing on a defender and a defensive midfielder would have been the right substitution yesterday even if the original intention was to ease them back in.

The whole Vertonghen thing is really unsettling. He has been singing the clubs praises saying he wants to stay, meanwhile Toby (although not publicly) is well known to want to move on and been an arse with contract negotiations - or someone in his camp has been - yet here we are start of the season Verts on the bench and Toby starting? Then to top it all Verts has a black eye with rumours of a punch up with someone on the training ground.

I don’t like any of it!!

We badly miss Verts who has been our best, most consistent player over the last few years. I personally think Dier is also missed for his energy and fight.

He's only got himself to blame for not being in the team. The only reason he isn't fit was that he didn't look after himself over the summer break and who can argue if the manager is less than impressed and decided it needed punishing. On his pre-season performances he was the worst player by some distance, who knows what he'd be doing out on the pitch currently.

As I've said numerous times now, you don't give Sanchez first go at the position and then just change things after one week. How is that good for any player? You have to give them a fair run. I wouldn't be shocked to see him start this weekend either. With it being one game a week until after the international break there's no need to rotate either, so Jan has to wait for his chance to get a run out and show he's fit and should have his place back.

I think Verts and Eriksen want a move along with some others and this is what is unsettling the squad. He will only know whats what once the European window is closed.

He could have brought vertonghen on for Rose, although admittedly I suspect Davis was given game time as he will be first choice against arsenal.
Celso didn't really get a touch, so that was a pretty pointless sub. Dier could have come on for KWP, and Eriksen for Lamela.

I now think it very unlikely vertonghen will start against the arse or Dier come in for Winks/KWP/Sanchez.
They were core to project #1 and now MP seems to want them gone - I wouldn't be surprised if they left in January. This is a terrible mistake from where I'm sitting.

It was Lo Celso who put in the first time pass to Kane who could have had a pen after Lascelles fell onto him. That is what we need someone who can see a pass and play it first time. Dele at his best comes to mind

Sanchez is absolute garbage

And we are going to be stuck with this liability for a long time because levy is not going to take a big loss on him

He is shit..end off

On par with the likes if Aurier and the N's

I never want to accuse people of racism - but your fucking idiotic vitriol is particularly disgusting about black players.

If you honestly believe the above, you’ve wasted your life following a sport you don’t know anything about.

Where has this "fitness" stuff come from? Sounds like an excuse.

Ndombele is not fully fit and Lo Celso is "so far away from what we expect from him" (quote from Poch), but they are getting playing time.

I think the issue with Jan is contractual, his last contract will be huge for him and I wonder whether he is also refusing to accept terms and looking to see out his deal.

If he is being frozen out because of this i'm not surprised by the ITK of Poch beginning to lose the dressing room.

Players will be far more sympathetic to Jan's situation as something they all have to contend with during their careers, than they will be to the manager freezing out, by all accounts, a model professional.

I agree 100%, no way Jan does not come on from the bench if it is fitness that is the issue. Think this is a battle Poch needs to concede to win the war and get the whole squad on side.

why are toby and eriksen still playing then?

Necessity more than anything, we know where we stand with them and have for a long time. I think we expected them to leave and they haven't. I feel if we were winning both games comfortably Eriksen does not feature in either home game. I think once the negotiations with Jan are concluded Toby takes the spot on the bench.

I think Jan's black eye is the biggest clue we've got about what's really going on.

To me it's fairly obvious: Pochetino and Daniel are running some sort of underground FIght Club under the new stadium and some of our players are part of it (maybe even all of them), and Jan has clearly broken the main rule... he told someone about this Fight Club, and I can only guess he's being punished by not getting to start any games for the foreseeable future. This also explains the anomalous amount of injuries among our squad during these past months.

In the blue corner , we have SuperJan and in the white corner we have Clark Kane.
