Looks a great prospect but feel DM will ultimately be his position or on the right of a 3. Almost to good on the ball to waste as a CB.
Completely makes sense that he started out as No 10. You could see he has a lot of confidence with the ball at his feet and is very patient in possession, he also seems to read the game well. Obviously considering his age and amount of first team football he is going to have hiccups along the way, but that is only natural. All he needs to do is bulk up a bit and he will be fantastic for us.

Thought he had a great game v Newport. Had a difficult first half (who didn't?) on a windy night in an open stadium on a bobbly pitch, but kept on trying to play football. he's got such an air of composure about him and he reads the game pretty well too. I'd love to see him in the DM role since I think he may lack a bit of bulk to play CB in the EPL at the moment. Reminds me quite a lot of Richard Gough which can't be a bad thing.

Yes Richard Gough was one of the best CB’s i’ve seen at Spurs before homesickness dragged him back north. If Juan turned out as good as him we will have a player on our hands.

Arguably the best centre-half we had in the 80's.

Just didn't spend enough time with us.

Really like what I'm seeing from him. His weaknesses (sometimes overplaying, a bit light physically) is the sort of stuff that experience will remove.

He's one cool, calm player. Plays with his head up when he's on the ball and can spot the pass.
Fantastic buy and he'll only improve under Poch's guidance.

looks like he could be a holding midfielder to me

Don't want to toot my own horn, but post #12 in the Summer Transfer Rumour Thread:

"Looks like a very technical CB/DM material"

"I can honestly see this kid challenging for the backup DM role. So much technique for a CB. Has the defensive chops, but is clearly more mobile and comfortable on the ball than Dier."

Me now:

Why he isn't in front of Dier in the DM role behind Victor is beyond me and a crime. I know Dier is tested, but you cannot compare natural talent and ability. Juan is hands down a better option.

I think his future is as a CB, but I could see him filling in the DM role when needed.

Very good player already with such massive potential. With Sanchez he should form a formidable partnership. Two very young classy players great signings that auger well for the future of the club.

What they have over our academy players is that they already have first team experience, have character building experience in leaving their homeland and settling into different cultures. All this brings a maturity beyond their age.

He stitched us up. He wanted to go to Rangers from Dundee. Dundee wouldn’t have it so he came to us and left very early in his second season.

Amazing that a 19 year old backup cb has got better ball control than our French international midfielder at the peak of his career. Rather see
Forth at right mid than Sissoko, or why not TOB.

Hopefully people will be more patient with him than they have been with Dier.
