Peoples obsession with these swap deals is just astounding...
I give it one more page before someone chimes in with 'You can have Walker but only if we can have Neymar'.
Too much computer games i think.
You think those suggestions are being made literally?

If he goes it has to be north of £50m

Stones is shit and he went for that. Walker is the best player in his position in the division. You want him/he wants out, then pay the dough.

Trippier is a drop off but given time I think he'll be a top 2/3 right back in the division. Neville was actually saying yesterday he expected Trippier to surpass Walker. He knows a bit about that position. It's possible.
Stones was considered the best English Centre-back of his generation - no chance Walker goes for north of £50M.

RBs are luxuries, not necessities. Teams pay record amounts for players in the spine - not at FB.

All seems a bit too quick for me, it implies they've asked how much we want for him, we've said a figure, and they've agreed.
It might be agreed in principle but we all know the goalposts tend to move, thats how Levy works.

I would imagine city don't negotiate as hard as other clubs, given the fact they can normally just pay the asking price for players.

City have no real FB of quality anymore, we have Levy as our chairman and Walker is better than Stones. If they want him they will have to pay through the neck, Barca, Bayern etc are also reportedly in for him so City can't low ball this.

The list of defenders sold for > £40M is: David Luiz and John Stones

Dani Alves went for ~ £28M, Shaw went for £27M - I would expect Walker to go for ~£40M to keep in line with inflation. Teams will not spend £50M+ on a RB - no matter who it is.

If City offered more than that - then Levy should snap their hand off accepting the offer...

Is it daft to think they could be looking at buying both?
Zabaleta's defo off, and I doubt Sagna's part of Peps plan for the future.

Mate that was last season, every year the market gets more insane and bloated. A top English defender far more proven than Stones and with Levy as our chairman with a bunch of the very richest or best clubs coming after him if Levy doesn't get at least £50 million then he is not living upto his reputation.

Dani alves was not english and shaw's price was based on potential. Walker english, now at his prime age and no.1 right back in english squad and coming from a team who are playing in champions league worth more than 50m...

What star players at the start? People like Kaboul??

Jaysus wept, Millsey...so now you are going to try and qualify star players by which ones you rate with hindsight.

It's simple: we bought seven players with the Bale money - they were all technically star players. Harry Kane was nowhere near the first team - behind a £27 million striker, Soldado, and our highest wage earner, Adebayor - star players. In fact, just about every player in contention for the first team was technically a star player (no matter how you rate them now).

That is why they were described as underachieving. Rather than looking for angles on everything, why don't you just Google the number of players, mature players, that Poch sold in his first twelve months. Hell, you could put the boat out and check how many he sold in the first 18 months, just to be on the safe side. If they were in contention for the first team they were technically star players :)

You are a tryer, Millsey LoL

Seems way to high in my opinion. I think you may get to that point if Walker was very happy at Spurs and we were certain we didn't want to sell. Seems like Walker wants out and we may take an offer. 35 million would be about right, which is still insane

I think it would be insane to accept.

There should be a premium for other PL clubs.

Thuran moved to Madrid for 30m+ over 15 years ago and a wing back is a position in high demand across European football.

40m minimum for me.

better hope we have lamela back because trippier and eriksen down the right just aren't going to cut it defensively.

For what it's worth as the players walked past the Park Lane yesterday they waved or rather they raised their hand and moved it around to acknowledge us then moved on and wandered off.
At the last moment, at the corner before walking the West stand Kyle Walker turned looked back at us and actually waved, as he did so it occured to me it looked like a goodbye wave, reading this thread today I'm now thinking that I didn't imagine it.

I like the All Blacks rugby team's style.
They have a 'no dickheads' policy.
Dickheads are described as “people putting themselves ahead of the team, people who think they’re entitled to things or expect the rules to be different for them, people operating deceitfully in the dark, or being unnecessarily loud about their work."
Link here - http://trainingground.guru/articles/how-to-think-like-an-all-black-no-dickheads-allowed

"A d*ckhead makes everything about them. Often teams put up with it because a player has so much talent. We look for early warning signs and wean the big egos out pretty quickly.
Our motto is, if you can’t change the people, change the people.”

I think Poch has his own version of this.
And it's sounding like Kyle is putting himself and his self-interest ahead of that of the squad.
Obviously, in football you get more money thrown around and agents only concerned with their own paypackets.
But the article is worth a read...and although it lacks the fame and money of football...the physicality and commitment needed in rugby creates some good practices and values.

Maybe Kyle is pissed with alli because he did say he is the most unhygienic player in the squad. That would piss me off too if someone said I smelt like a tramp. :poop::cautious::whistle:

If its done it seems to have happened quick which means city are paying over the odds for him which would be 50m
