Good thing Farke and Poch's comments aren't taken too seriously, only good for his development to have fans on his side before he even starts his career. How is airing this stuff, which may or may not be true, in public the right thing to do.

One of them asks a reasonable question, though:

'What would be the point of playing Edwards at all? We can't do anything this season and he's not gonna be here next year so no point wasting minutes to improve him when they could be used on our players. '

We moan enough about buying players that would prevent our own youngsters coming through. Why would Norwich, or any other club, give minutes to a loan player, unless that loan player represented immediate impact at a competetive level? Why should we expect another club to 'develop' our player?

because they might get him back next season where he'll be more of an asset to them, or one of our other good youngsters. norwich aren't flush with cash so it makes sense for them to utilise the loan market more.

Why would he be more of an asset to them next season? Because he’ll be four months older than he is now?

EXPERIENCE

I remember Harry playing the last 6 games on the 13/14 season at the time it felt like we had just given up for the season. But those 6 games were pivotal for him and us. the following season he became our main striker under a new manager.
Point is had he not played those 6 games would he of had the confidence going into the following season? the answer maybe yes the answer maybe no but you never know until you try it.

Edwards clearly has ability, i'm confident the club would be happy with him getting game time at norwich next season. Especially given the players we have ahead of him. But if Norwich don't play him why would we ever send him back there? So I think it's all down to Norwich, blood a player with some pretty interesting assets or keep what they have right now. I can see both sides of the argument.

One thing is for certain if Tottenham want him to develop he needs to be playing

Farke said he's had the right attitude in training recently so deserved his chance the other day, which i guess means he's been working hard enough off the ball which is exactly what he'll need to do to get a chance with us in the future.

He’ll need to have the right attitude consistently though, not just a week of it. Let’s see if he can keep it up for the rest of the season. Players with attitude problems rarely have a lightbulb moment.

Young players with attitude problems often have lots of time to mature and change. Think what you were doing at Edwards age and try and imagine why he will likely mature a lot in the next 1-5 years. I think we as a club are probably to blame for his attitude problem. Think back to Tim Sherwood bigging him up like this:

“Currently in the academy at Spurs there is a 15-year-old, Marcus Edwards, who is already playing for England Under-17s. He is the kind of player who, as a coach, makes you look forward to walking out on to that pitch in the morning. Everyone in development football has heard of Marcus. He is a gifted technician with a low centre of gravity, who can pass off either foot or dribble past opponents.
“When I was at Spurs, I would persuade anyone and everyone at the training ground to come over to see him train. He is a joy to watch. Again, he is the kind of player who might not always get a game. There might be a bigger boy who could be more effective on that given day, but in time Marcus has the potential to be a great player, a make-the-difference footballer. He can win you a game. These are the kind of talented players that we must not neglect."

Comments like this would give him the impression he has made it and that normal rules don't apply. I imagine Poch has been very firm with him that he needs to work hard etc but I think he made a mistake with his Messi comment and has acknowledged that.

Looks like at the moment we are trying to take him back to ground zero and instill hard work and determination to go with his flair. Maybe the Norwich experience will turn into a positive towards the end or maybe it will break him. Definitely the right move though.

Let's not be too harsh if we don't know what "personal reasons" are exactly. Hopefully we get some further clarification.

And there was talk of another loan next season, but not keen after spending time on bench, along with fitness issues.

So are personal reasons a nice way of saying 'he wasn't up to it', or is there a real issue there?

All is not lost. Remember the likes of Harry, Mason, Townsend, had loads of loans that didn’t work out. It’s just the way it can go. Get your head down, sonny, and graft for it.
