No but if he goes we will have to use the funds generated from his sale to replace him.

I don’t think him staying is going affect us getting in a cb or attacker
I don't think we need to replace him. We have enough strength in depth in that position. This is why I think we should sell him.

Ange has said we need to sell. We’re struggling to sell fringe players.

At best PEH is 4th choice CM for us this season. With 2 years left on his contract he’s got to be high up on the list of players we want to sell.

Football transfers would be so simple if players didn't have opinions on where they want to go and how much they should be paid🤣🤣
This is why I love the NBA. Not only that but if a team wants one of your stars you can demand they also take some of your junk.

You want Kane? Okay but Sanchez, Sess and Ndombele are coming with him.

as much as i like him, we are in a rebuild and he is just blocking the path of younger players with potentially higher ceilings, has realisable value and isn't HG. Skipp fine to play the 6 if Biss isn't available

We need to get creative here as AM want him but don't have the cash.

He is really not suited to our new system and Ange will understandably not play him and lose patience when he does. Then summer of 24 with 1 year left and after rotting on the bench we'll get peanuts.

I would offer that they can take him on loan with no fee but an obligation to buy for £20-25m next summer

Think it would be in our best interest for him to stay 'till the end of January, with AFCON to keep in mind. Sarr and Biss will both be gone for a while, and who knows what state Bentancur will be in by then (hopefully up to speed).

Also -- you never know how teams needs will shift during a season due to injuries. So, there could be a lot more interest in someone with his skillset in late-January, willing to pay what we think he's worth.

Would rather just see what Devine can provide if he doesn't go out on loan.

Pierre Emile Højbjerg is close to a move to Atletico Madrid, who are on the hunt for a controlling midfielder

Pierre Emile Højbjerg may well play Champions League football this season, even though Tottenham failed to qualify for European football.

On the bench

A move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid is moving closer for the 28-year-old Dane, who was on the bench in the season opener against Brentford.

A historic decision from new head coach Ange Postecoglou, as the Danish international has played almost every minute for Tottenham since his arrival in 2020.

But the bench spot is also a signal that Tottenham will probably soon be replaced by a new challenge in La Liga.

As Ekstra Bladet understands it, Højbjerg is also prepared to test his skills in the Spanish league in particular.

Great distance

So far, there has been a great distance between the parties. Tottenham started out with a demand for a price in the region of DKK 335 million, but there is no prospect that neither Atletico Madrid nor anyone else will pay that for Højbjerg.

Spanish media Todofichajes claims to know that Atletico Madrid have made a bid for Højbjerg. A bid of 25 million euros - 185 million Danish kroner - has reportedly been sent in the direction of London.

As Ekstra Bladet understands it, Atletico Madrid will probably have to land a bid of DKK 220-240 million if they are to hope to bring the Dane to the Spanish capital here and now.

Leaving a big gap

Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid's head coach, has long had his eye on the 28-year-old Dane. And now the development can be stepped up, because Koke was forced off with a muscle injury after just seven minutes of play in the season opener.

Koke is often seen in the controlling role in Atletico Madrid's midfield. His absence leaves a big hole in the Atletico squad.

Pierre Emile Højbjerg has two years left on his contract with Tottenham.
