I missed the positioning when he came on and before VdV went off. Was it 3 at the back??

I think he'll massively benefit from the next two week's of training. I only saw one replay of that final chance for McTominay but it looked as though Radu had pushed close to Romero and lost McTominay and/or Udogie hadn't tracked him.

Either way, he looked comfortable on the ball, which was nice to see.

Yeah, definitely something time should iron out, I’d think. Thought he looked confident, though, and instantly makes me feel like we have 3 fantastic options at CB.

I thought it was Udogie that lost his runner as Radu was marking someone else. I may be wrong as I’ve not watched it back

Lost his man when McTominay had that header at the end but understandable considering everything moved around when VDV went off. Looked good on the ball, onwards and upwards.

He started as right centre back in a three and moved to LCB in a two after VDV went off.
Thanks. Yeah, wondering if this is something we might see more of from Ange? Possibly Romero pushing further on through the middle as his passing can be really incisive. Mix it up a bit now we have options!!

Agree, we can also take off a tiring Udogie if we are protecting a lead and put VDV as a left back during the end of a game.

We did this with Davies at the start of the season, when we didn’t have 6-12 players missing.

Looked to me like Romero was in La La land on that one. Radu and Udogie were left to mark 3 guys on their own.

Regardless, obvi something that can be cleaned up once the guys have had more than 1 training session together.

He wasn’t under any real pressure but looked perfectly comfortable on the ball. Just wish we had gotten one more corner kick.

Hjolund made a run and cut in front of him in the McTominay chance. I guess I am not familiar if he was supposed to pass him off to Romero or track him? He tracked him which opened the space for McTominay, which I am assuming Destiny was supposed to slide over?

Its simply down to oragnisation as a group rather than individually.

They will have spent the week, the regulars are more used to it, organising as a four. They know whose space is whose and who picks up runners etc.

Going to a 5 would have thrown them.

I am actually more annoyed about Fernandes being allowed the time to pick his cross because it came from a really deadly area that is difficult to defend.

I like how he slots in seamlessly at RCB. This gives us some very good tactical options, including pushing (a fully fit) Romero up to DM if and when we need to close out games.

Yeah it’s early days but Johnson doesn’t look the best on the RW atm
Where does he look the best though?

As a 9, he would neither hold the ball up well enough, nor provide the finishing required.

As a LW, he doesn't run with the ball enough.

At least at RW he can run behind and cross.

Some wholesome Dragusin content. His brother was understandably emotional for Radu's debut.
