Quite interesting debate in the vs Chelsea team chat. Personally with the feeling gotta throw Dragusin a bone here and start him Thursday v Chelsea with VDV left back. Watching Dier start in CL semi final gotta have him questioning his decisions. Don’t think it’s a great look to potential signings to lodge him on the bench and not get minutes.

If we haven't see Radu feature and VDV shift across with both left backs absent, i dont think we ever will. A lot of clubs are playing centre halves in fullback positions with positive results so i am disappointed we haven't used this as an opportunity to bed in a new signing before next season and try something different to stop the rot.

The bigger concern for me is the start of next season as im sure i've read Argentina plan to include Romero in their Olympic squad. The final is on August 9th so Romero's involvement and Argentina's probable placing in the medal positions could give us a headache at the start of the new campaign.

Its a conundrum because the Romero and VDV partnership feels like the sole pillar of consistency for me currently but if the former isn't available for the start of next season I would like Radu getting some game time to have him settled and ready to go.

Manea has admitted that he wanted him to sign for Serie A giants Napoli and he has been critical of head coach Ange Postecoglou.

“It would’ve been better for him [to sign for Napoli], especially for the sunshine, but it was his choice,” Manea told Radio CRC.

“Now he needs to be patient, he has two important players in front of him in the pecking order and eventually he will find space too.”

Hitting out at Postecoglou’s tactics, he added: “The coach said many times he does not want to play with a three-man defence, evidently he knows best, but Tottenham concede a ton of goals. Playing with three gives more security.

“I also think Tottenham concede a lot of goals from set plays, so Dragusin would be very helpful due to his power in the air, he used to get all the headers at Genoa.”

Manea seemingly has hit heart set on Napoli, claiming he “would’ve chosen” the Italian outfit if “Bayern and Tottenham hadn’t been there” and he “won’t stay just to sit on the bench”.

“If he doesn’t play, then we have to think about other solutions, but he only arrived in January, so that seems unlikely right now,” Manea replied.

“If Bayern and Tottenham hadn’t been there, he would’ve chosen Napoli. If they were to offer a loan, especially if Antonio Conte was the coach, then we could evaluate that.

“I can say that if Postecoglu told Dragusin that he is only considered an alternative to the other centre-backs, then he would not stay just to sit on the bench.”

Fair enough tbh, I hope he starts vs Liverpool and VDV moves to LB over Royal.

CL is gone. Chances of going lower than 5th I'd fairly remote so radu should play. Either test romero or move vdv lb

It’s not a good look but Radu has barely been played so can see where he’s coming from when he could’ve signed for Bayern or Napoli etc.
