you could easily argue we still don't given his outputNot sure where everyone is saying he was brought in to be Kane's replacement?
He was brought because our rotation options were horrendous and we've never had a player who could adequately fill in for either Kane or Son.
I posted in the Kulusevski thread but basically every attacker is rendered useless in this setup.you could easily argue we still don't given his output
to a degree but I would say what is really rendered useless is team play and cohesion - the system whatever it is supposed to be ends up almost entirely dominated by the defensive unit being so deep the midfield whatever their role is ends up playing of the back lines toes and the forwards are trying to pick the ball up in their own half most of the time and build there own play - it's a mess you can't build up any cohesive football our ball retention is laughable there is no pressure on the ball so so sides have time to have a cigar when they are playing and as for winning the ball back in the opposition half it so rarely happens you are amazed when it doesI posted in the Kulusevski thread but basically every attacker is rendered useless in this setup.
That player doesn't exist.IMHO we need to stop saying he will be all right next season, surely we need players who are good in whatever this season may be, not one sometime in the future. All we are doing is hamstringing ourselves yet again.
I think those saying he’ll come good next season are probably referring to the fact that he’s clearly the Kane replacement.
In my eyes that’s why he was bought in.
Agree. People tend to forget that for the 1st time ever we had a World Cup slap bang in the middle of the season.Yeah. It's virtually impossible to judge anyone based on this season.
By way of comparison, Kulusevski, Romero and Son have also looked very poor this season.
maybe but he never had that at Everton either - doesn't look in this team that his bright around the box and would link up with players that well but that as you say it is not something we pocess at all - so far at Tottenham his biggest asset has been his aerial play (apart from Saturday) and that he is a willing worker if anything he looks a bit awkward on the ballNeeds a 10 to play with him, someone to thread the ball, how many players do we have who can do that? Deki perhaps but he needs feeding as well from CM to create. Basically we’ve got too many shooters we need assisters.
Son came from a different league, different language , was younger etc etc.Seems like the same people complaining about Son’s first season are at it again.
Kane has missed those too, it happens. Remember he’s also probably rusty and not full of confidence.he does alright but the key moment was the header and it was a terrible miss
This is exactly the problemI posted in the Kulusevski thread but basically every attacker is rendered useless in this setup.
You have just described Harry KaneI think he’s a good squad player who can play as a forward across the front line, come in, work hard and cause teams problems.
BUT
We spent £60m on him and he doesn’t have stand out attributes. He can’t really dribble or beat his man, isn’t quick, touch isn’t great etc.
More importantly he’s never going to be a 20 goal a season striker imo, so there’s no way he can replace Kane as first choice, or we will be in massive trouble. He’s scored 5, 13, 13, 7, 10 and 0 PL goals across the last 6 seasons.
I do want to see what a better coach can do but I just think he lacks standout attributes and finishing ability to play striker and he doesn’t have the explosiveness, dribbling, touch or creativity to play wide for a team trying to compete in the top 6.
