Liked the hold/link up play in the second half, much stronger than the first half. Sharp end of the pitch is always gonna require the longest adjustment period, given the stark change in play style which comes with less space to run into and more settled final third play. Patience. Same goes for Sonny and Deki. Obviously need to add in the forward areas though.

I was surprised the midfielders didn't try the through balls on the side (terrible description) like they did against Brentford, there was a lot more space today.

He would benefit greatly from Perisic starting, you can't rely on the others to make the right decision when it's time to cross.

It feels like he’s trying too hard when it comes to goal scoring chances.

Seen him snatching at opportunities / his reactions to loose balls in the box can be slow.

His tenacity can work well on the wing & maybe Son’s poacher instincts can suit us better in the box.

Only getting 3 goals in your first season, he will be trying too hard and it will make him look poor. I hope he sorts himself out and it may take some time. We need some patience with him.

I will add the striker is going to be isolated the way we play. Even in games were we have 70% of the ball. So it’s always gonna look like he’s on the periphery and not impacting play. It’s not gonna be like Kane running the midfield. Kane in this system would be the exact same, much fewer touches. It’s why selling him in my mind wasn’t the end of the world (yes he’s better than Richy). Bar switching it up from time to time with some one twos in front of the defence, he’ll be running in behind and navigating the penalty area to get on the end of chances. I’ll criticize if he starts missing chances created for him.

If anything, I’m happy we’ve got a new type of threat: getting the inverted fullbacks into shooting/creating areas and midfielders crashing the box. Front three needs time, whoever plays.

Kane in this system bagged 4 goals. Best not to dwell on Kane anymore, but ultimately I think we need a much better CF than Richarlison.

His best moment was the past and header that went beyond him, just before he was subbed. He was poor today frankly

Agree. from when we signed richy, i always thought he would come good. Today i saw no fight in him like i had previously. Maybe he is carrying an injury, or i am being harsh, but i just dont think he fits our new system, esp playing up front

Ultimately you’re almost certainly right. Shakhtar is a different level though and Richy scored 3 in preseason too. The two aren’t comparable in terms of class, but I would give Richy and the whole front line time.

I thought he did ok today, despite not getting many touches. His movement and presence created space for others. He very nearly got his head onto a chipped ball over the top, after a very well-timed run. Maybe he has snatched at a couple of chances / half-chances, but I really don't think he has done too much wrong. He's likely to have more of an impact once our team settles into this new system together (for example, despite Maddison looking threatening in the final third, he's often failing to find the right pass).

Richarlison in this system scored a hat-trick in pre-season. Neither of those performances translates into Premier League football though.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not entirely convinced by Richarlison. I can see us being far more reliant on goals from midfield / wingers this season.

Against some part timers, if we're using the Shaktar excuse for H.

I'll get off his back, ultimately I want everyone to do well at Spurs. But I think we should be realistic about Richarlison's level.
