For me the only parts where Bentancur had a bit of difficulty, was clearly just him adjusting to the speed of the game in England. He looks absolutely class, the more he plays in this country the better he is going to get, we are yet to see the best of a very very good player in my opinion. He added so much calmness on the ball to our midfield.

He never shies away from receiving the ball, which gives the other players more options to find a pass. Too often in the past we have had players who hide behind the opposition, he always gets into a position where a pass is on.

You have to use 4 o's in the word "smooooth" to describe his style. Needs to eliminate giveaways in dangerous positions though I recall 2 at the transition from final to middle third yesterday thatvwere bad. Hope he comes good because he is another player who can be special
Think he has already came good tbh

fully agree on this. I love the guy. wish I could find a compilation of his touches yesterday to see if they were as bad as I recall. some of us grew up in an environment where giving a ball away in the defensive 3rd especially during a transition was a mortal sin

I’m excited to watch him this season as he gets more premier league experience under his belt. His ceiling is really high I think and the best is yet to come.

For me it was instantly noticeable yesterday how much better our midfield is when he plays. Will start most games. The question will be who is his best partner

Something like this?
thanks. phenomenal to have that many highlights in a half. I didn't see either of the plays I was thinking of in the clip Perhaps it wasn't him but I remember distinctly thinking "and after all this, that was a stinker". one gave a partial breakaway if memory is correct. will jump on line and try to find

He definitely had a few of those that aren't in this compilation.

I can't recall that from Bentancur specifically, but it could have happened - seemed like It happened a few times. I do recall Hojbjerg passes setting Sevilla in on goal at least twice.

Eventually I think its BIssouma - but this Covid really came at a bad time in terms of building up fitness. He may not be ready for the start of the season. Hopefully he can get a 20-30 minute run out v. Rangers. But, I figure the squad against Roma will be the expected starting XI v. Soton. And, Conte might not feel he is ready to start the season.

I imagine we'll start the season with the starting XI that ended last season. Especially when you consider how Conte likes his players to fully know their roles and the system.

The thing that stands out most to me about Bentancur, and it's present all throughout these clips, is that he shifts the ball so quickly. He's got a map of the pitch in his head and almost always moves it on with his first or second touch, taking more than that mostly when he needs to dribble out of pressure. It's a stark contrast to Hojbjerg (who I don't mean to slag off as he's a great option to have in the squad).

I'm betting we'll see Bentancur in the team for the most important matches. Some had gone cool on him toward the end of last season but he was playing through injury because Winks was such a massive liability. With proper rotation now he's going to have a massive season IMO.

The skill & vision to do what he did at 1:35 is incredible...and to do it, so easily, as if its nothing is world class IMO.
On half turn, 5 Sevilla players pressing high....all it took was 1 outside of the boot touch/pass to completely nuke their pressing and move forward. ? ???

Allegri wasted Bentancur at Juve - we getting him for 18m is just incredible business.

I love Hojbjerg - but IMO, Bentancur - Bissouma is the partnership to go

I like Hojbjerg too but Bentancur is a much better player all round. That said I think Hojbjerg skills are really good at breaking up play and he would be a great player coming on fresh when we are leading games and looking to see out a result.

The game appears to slow down a bit for great players and Bentancur seems to have that about him.
