He doesn't feel like he's spurs yet. I really hope over the course of next season an affinity blossoms between him, the fans and the club. He has a massive future.

I actually feel the total opposite.

I think he's so fully Spurs, that it's held him back a little, because he's concerned about errors & screwing everything up.

But you really could see him growing with each display in those last half a dozen or so matches where he got his first consistent run in the team.

He got a few decent assists (I've seen them described as "simple" but they were calm, the right choice) and you could see he was starting to play with a smile on his face.

I think he's started to feel the love (backing) from supporters who were previously moaning and groaning at every touch.

And more importantly, I think he knows that Conte has faith in him. Conte has been very public about the fact that the only thing holding Sessegnon back, is Sessegnon.

This lad is going to blossom next season. I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever about that!

We've been really unlucky with our young talents like Skipp and Sessegnon. The issue of maintaining fitness/overcoming injuries mainly in both cases imo. It's compounded in Ryan's case because those issues have been more chronic over his young career and I think he lacks some natural self confidence.

He's really impressed me recently with the run of games he's had and the opportunity he's had to show his talent. He's impressed me most with his defensive work. Those opponents have found it really hard to get any joy down our left flank. It's been hugely important in our recent success. As his confidence grows, think he'll show more of his natural, attacking qualities.

Just has to stay fit...like Skippy. Be great to have both fit and firing next season. I'm a huge Skipp fan like you are. Think we'll see just what we've been missing when he comes back. Re Sess, think he'll be critical next season. Think Reggie goes, and we sign a LWB upgrade who rotates with Sess.

Feel like more needs to be made of just how good this 21 year old is defensively, he’s superb. His performances against Liverpool twice and City were fantastic. He to me looks like he will 9/10 times make the right decision when it matters in a 1v1 or in an important position to make the right pass. Always thought of him as being an intelligent player and it seems to me like he is going to get better and better.

Needs to keep building his confidence up but this run in to end the season will have been fantastic for him, can’t wait to see what happens when he has a proper pre-season.

Agree. And I'm more than comfortable with him being our first choice LWB next season. I really think he has all the tools to be one of the very best if he keeps progressing.

he was excellent at getting into goal-scoring positions in the box, getting to the byline and crossing across the 6 yard box or cutting inside, making inside runs from wing/wingback, attacking the space brilliantly... he played multiple positions either LB, LWB, LW, RW, defensively solid. at times he almost played as a poacher it seemed cause he would pop up with a goal so often. it sounds like there were no weaknesses in his game but he was almost unplayable a lot of the time, i remember he was in with a shout of getting into the 2018 WC squad, he was barely 18 if I remember correctly

He does get ignored a lot in very dangerous positions, especially the past few games. It’s not to blame Kane or Son for looking for each other, but only Kulu has found Sess at the back post. If he gets more attention he’ll definitely score more goals.

That is what I remember too. Clearly an intelligent footballer. Knew how to overload and how and when to arrive and slot it home. His defending has looked very good this season too.

Very similar to Matt Doherty, in that he didn't seem like a defender, but more of an auxiliary winger. So much so that there were Bale comparisons of a young left back who was better suited to playing forward. Think he even wore #11 a few times, maybe for the England U21s?

Definitely, his goal scoring was largely down to his knack of getting late into the box, and yes, generally getting into good positions. He always had a good phisicality too, would make good runs into space, particularly when he played as a fullback. But I guess what was also impressive was in his decision making, he always showed great maturity.

But I think a lot of the early hype wasn't fully justified. I mean he was an exceptional talent but quite far from a top 6 players, possibly not even a PL player, there is a reason he struggled for starts when Fulham got promoted.

Firstly, he wasn't a particularly dynamic or exciting player. His game was more built on fine understanding of fundamentals but never had the X factor like say Sancho does. This normally suggests a slower developmental path. But he also was still quite raw.

Secondly, the level of the championship is considerably bellow the PL. Knockhaert, Nugent and Matt Richie were phenomenal championship players, but pretty average PL ones. Scoring lots and winning awards doesn't really count for much.

The PL is a different ball game and I always thought at the top top level he would stand a better chance as a fullback even if his defensive game was quite immature, as you'd expect from a teenager. And I always thought that this would take time and he was far from a sure thing.

yes, I think I've probably been a bit over the top and a little blinded by nostalgia, and would definitely agree with the points you raised -- I did feel a lot of excitement when we signed him which is probably what i'm feeding into!

I really don’t think I’ve wanted a young player to succeed more than I do with this lad for quite some time. Incredibly likeable lad and his attitude seems first class. Also believe he’s got all the talent to succeed too, so I’m really really rooting for him to be a success with us! Very promising end to the season for him, absolutely chuffed for him!

Sometimes we just want instant gratification and don't have patience, especially if the rest of the team is lacklustre. Was Bale a bit pooh initially!
The other factor is King Conte, he seems like the pied fuckin piper, and everyone seems to want to raise their game for him.

Fully agree.... I'd become so frustrated with a recent performance and felt we should get rid if him and posted such a view.

However...... Ive changed my view and he could kick on next season. I just hope he is over his injuries and he starts to grow and develop into that lb/lwb role.
