His problem is he looks to lightweight and his injury record is shocking.

he’s been plagued with hamstring problems for 2-3 years now and they are always long term injuries.

not sure he will ever be the player he was once tipped to be . His confidence has taken a proper battering with all his injuries too .
Yeah maybe but he’s had the surgery now so it might fix it. I don’t think he’s too lightweight he bulked up slot.
He’s got the rest of the season to impress. If illing junior is his replacement then so be it.

Wonder if Ange would see him as back-up to Udogie or LW.

Definitely back up to Udogie. I've never agreed the argument for Sessegnon as LW, he just doesn't have the skill in tight areas or burst of acceleration required.

I really believe if Ange can get his head right he has the necessary tools to thrive as a rotation option for Udogie.

We can only hope that the surgery has sorted the problem. If it has then he might be able to establish himself as a rotation option for Udogie. He does have the ability, but he doesn't have the strength that Udogie has.

Hope he is fit enough to sell in January. We could do with the funds to put towards a centre back.

There is absolutely no way we sell him in January - nobody will buy him given his injury record and he is still not fit. The best that can happen here is that he gets a run in the side as a rotation for Udogie till the end of the season and then we potentially look to move him on in the summer.

Absolutely perfect type of player for Big Ange - If he can get himself fit!!

Not the greatest defensively but loves to get forward and knows where the goal is

Fingers crossed he gets a clear run of injuries moving forward

Oh yea completely agree mate but just saying at some point he'll be fit again and so Ange will give him a chance like he does for everyone so wondering if he'd try him at LB or LW but yea I think the writing is on the wall long-term for Sess to be sold tbh.

Have to remember that he is STILL only 23 so he does have time on his side to progress, he is also home grown which is valuable. If he can stay fit (HUGE if) then I don't think we would be rushing to sell him.

Is he lightweight? Under conte, he put on a lot more muscle.

I actually don't mind him, he just needs to stop playing within himself.

Sorry for the bump, but getting Sessegnon back shouldn’t be completely disregarded. I saw recently he was looking to be back in training late December/early January, which given our lack of depth at times I think it should be considered a boost for us. He can give us some depth in a couple positions where we have been light, and while it’s hard to expect much, at this point, he does look like a solid fit for Ange’s tactics. Time will tell but if he can put the hamstring issues behind him (as he said was the reason for opting for the more intensive procedure), but if nothing else I just want to see him stay healthy for a bit for the good of his own career.

Trouble is he will need a fair bit of time to be ready and we could start getting players back by then. Davies has done so well at centre back but when VdV returns I think he's going to return to left back and cover centre back. So Sess could be 3rd choice.

Guess it will be a horses for courses situation. If we need a goal bring Sess on, if we need to defend in comes Gentle Ben.

Sess is a winger in this system not a fullback
I’d say he’s a perfect Ange fullback given his attacking strengths lie more in timing runs into the box & goal scoring as opposed to beating a man out wide and crossing. Underlapping would suit him much more than overlapping. Good defender as well and athletic enough to get up snd down. Obviously it’s a big if in terms of staying fit though.

I can’t see him as a winger in this set up at all as he doesn’t take players on 1v1 and being out on the touch line doesn’t suit him.

Yeah, this. Really think he’s a good fit on paper for the fullback role. If he can get right with his health he will get every opportunity to be a success here under Ange.
