As with Chadli before him, if he can score every four games or so, I'm happy to cut him some slack in other areas. Wouldn't want a team of players like that, but we can afford a couple of players of his ilk in the squad.

We need to keep him away from the build up play as much as possible, and he needs to learn to offload before he gets closed down, but that should be possible with the movement we're trying to get all over the pitch.

Son will come good but we must be patient with him,

Saturdays performance will do him the world of good. So happy for him as I know he has it in him to be a real performer for us. He has this ability about him that a very few have in this squad and its his instinct around the box and his pace with the ball. The first goal alone will tell you how confident he is in the box. Second goal was world class.

Him on the left is brilliant. He will without a doubt score double digits and become a real threat on the left.

Exciting times.

Fucking ESPNFC team of the week has him down as 'Heung-Min' in their little graphic.

How fucking hard is it to understand that some cultures, Korea being one of them, put their family name first and their given name second? His surname is 'Son' ffs.

I definitely think the position he was played in - ALM - is his best position if he's going to played as an AM. The AM3 we finished with saturday looked better balanced, in terms of personal and their skill sets/attributes than most we played last season.

Lamela Eriksen Son

One tricky and incisive looking, One composed metronome and one more direct looking to drift inside and shoot. Two proper inverted AM's and a proper "10".

Fair point, though I do love coco central. Son defo needs to only play left.

I'm delighted for him, but I'm still a bit bemused at the problem he has with his end product after a good break or run.

We saw this repeatedly at the end of last season, and 3 or 4 times on Saturday; he makes a good break, with incisiveness and good dribbling, but then either runs into a defender, or flubs his final ball.

Of course, there's no way Poch has missed this, so I'm sure they're working on it, but still a bit odd that it happens so consistently.

I am not going to take full credit, but Son's resurgence is directly correlated with my removal of Son as my avatar. I don't think that is a coincidence..

Having Son and Lamela playing at their highest confidence level will pack some ammunition for us in our attack surely against any side..

I do think that a fit and confident Son is exactly the type of player Pochettino wants in the AM positions. He is very direct and attack-minded when he gets the ball. If Lamela, who I also love, played with that directness, in addition to his cleverness, he would be playing for RM right now.

MotM again today, for my money. Didn't stop trying, seems to be much more comfortable with the pace now - would be very interesting to see him with Rose back in the team, them two overlapping could be really dangerous. He looks more relaxed than last year, less eager to impress and more in step with the squad. His future could be very bright.

edit: forgot to mention - his set piece deliveries, the corners especially, are mint. Not seen Eriksen impress like past seasons from the dead ball, but Son appears to be able to produce some excellent crosses.
