Was really hopeful for Son when we signed him but he seems to be struggling. He needs to develop some assertiveness, the amount of times I feel he's not gone for a loose ball or been indecisive when in a good position, losing possession as a result, is infuriating. He works hard and there's definitely ability there but he's a long way from being what we need.

He needs a cup of concrete, once he gets use to the physicality I could imagine him being quite a handful as he hits top speed fairly quickly and can hit an occasional long goal.

My worry for him is the transition time it will take, his value at previous clubs has predominately been as a fast counter attacker, the Poch style is not really his go. He's talented enough to make the grade but I just think it'll be a slow burn like Lamela..... and another Lamela type is no bad thing.

I think it's important to remember that he had a pretty serious injury earlier in the season and plantar fasciitis isn't something that just goes away; there's every chance that he could still be managing the condition. He was pretty good before his injury so I'm looking forward to what he can do next season after a period of rest to allow his foot to properly heal.

That can be actually quite true. He lost some of his explosiveness he had before the injury. I just remember the first Crystal Place game in which he beat 2 defenders to the ball with sheer pace and almost had a break away. You don't see that anymore from him since he came back from the injury. Plantar fasciitis can be indeed nasty. Perhaps he came back too soon before the injury fully healed.

I think had one of Son or N'jie been able to hit the ground running this year and make a consistent impact we'd probably have won the league

Both unfortunately have suffered with injuries and failed to settle as of yet

Hopefully they will both end up more like Lamela than Soldado or Pauliho after difficult starts but I do think one of those two signings probably should have been a player capable of making an instant impact rather than one we hope to see the best of next season

Son clearly has talent, he's fast and has the ability to beat a man as well as having an eye for a goal. I think next year he can be a valuable asset. He's a bit light weight and has struggled to adapt the the league but hopefully that will come

We lack options in depth for those attacking positions if he and N'jie can grow in to the role for next year we may be stacked with options all of a sudden (it's just too bad neither were able to fulfil that role this season when we have been so close to the top of the league and that little extra attacking spark could have made all the difference)

I don't think that Premiership experience can be over valued.
My preference if given a choice
would always be for someone Premiership ready.
There will be exceptions both ways of course
but Lamela and Son and the Magnificent Seven tend to prove the point.
The success of our own grown players is partly cultural too
of both familiarity with the club and the English game.
Success elsewhere does not always translate at first.
Like trippier? He's not exactly impressed bar one game

I think Son has made an important contribution this season and shown real quality. He offers something different from our other attackers and fits our squad perfectly. He's still only 23 and it's his first season in a new country in a new league. I can see him being much more consistent next season and becoming a very important player for us.

Informative article on Son and his obligatory military service. Worth noting that as he will be part of the Korean Olympic team this could seriously hamper his pre season with the club. The last thing he needs, but unfortunately it is a necessity for him. Worth keeping in mind when thinking about the beging of next season and fans expectations of his performances.

Sure it's been said before but once he gets a solid pre season under his belt I think next year he'll be very important to our team.

I assume he's not got many games this summer? (Correct me if I'm wrong to lazy to check) the only real commitment will be advertising stuff in Korea. Which means he can be back at spurs lodge before most and crack on. EDIT : just seen he's going to the Olympics.

On a side note I really like the lad. Watching videos on YouTube and the players social media accounts he just seems so happy all the time. Always smiling. Great to have in the squad!

Son, like Lamela, will need time to settle in to the English game.

Attackers more than anyone else need time to adjust to the time allowed on the ball, physicality, etc. That said, he should have plenty of scoring chances thanks to Eriksen and Alli if he makes the right movements off the ball.

If you look at Son's league stats you might be surprised. The general view is that he has underperformed what was expected of him, but has he really?

EPL STARTS 11 W8 D3 L0 PTS 27 is equivalent to 93 points for the season. Those games included Chelsea, Man City and Palace home and away, Liverpool away and West Ham at home.

11 of 36 games to date is a significant number on which to form a judgement......and they were not "easy" games.

Thought he was a bit brighter on Sunday and scored a good goal. He did fade but the whole team was underperforming really. In fact he probably had a better game than Kane as well as others.

Not sure how effective he can be in games where we need to work hard to unlock defences but in counter attacking play I think he looks promising. I just worry that his play is quite dependant on confidence because I can't see him being a starter at this point.

Hes done well and scored some goals. Sure he will be even better next year. Hes only young also, and look how long it took Lamela to settle.

Not worried at all.

Completely agree. He took his last two goals really well and being pretty much two footed gives him something extra up top. He's also a huge team player, something essential to what's being built at our club at the moment. I think he'll be decent next year and will wade in with more goals.

Spot on, he has a lot of talent, his shown glimpses he looked good till his injury. I think we have to expect less from players coming in to the EPL, lamela is looking good and it took him till his third season, Son has a bit of pace, technically looks handy, pre season should really help him, next year I have high hopes.
