Yeah I think he’s shown it a few times. There was a moment he absolutely blitzed varane for pace in the United game and looked like son of old
Yeah that stood out for me. Also in the NLD the way he sprinted to overlap Kulusevski for the Brennan Johnson chance

Nice analysis of Son showing that he’s actually having a great season so far.

Have to hold my hand up and I say I was one of those stupid ****s who was slightly disrespectful to him and concerned he was falling off a cliff.

This was an amazing video and really changes my perspective that how Ange has set us up has paid massive dividends for Son and then for the team.

Some here may have forgotten he was carrying an injury for most of last season (said so himself at some point in the summer I believe), along with the play style and off pitch nonsense that occurred.

I think a lot of criticism came before learning of his injury. I felt it was just his positioning and the whole team was under par last season. There was just something not right with the team. I couldn't understand why he was so deep at times. The previous season he was playing off the shoulder a lot more. I don't know if Conte instructed him too much. I remember he mentioned something about thinking about what Conte wanted which seemed to cause hesitation in what he was doing. I think he needs to be free to react more as that's where he's at his best. It seems the quicker the tempo gets the better he is. I also think people looked more at his age and thought his time was coming due to his reliance on pace. However he still looks incredibly fit and has good pace. I see him as a Ronaldo type who looks after himself and will still be athletic in his late 30s.

Now that's come to light it's even more bewildering why Conte stubbornly refused to give him a break, even though his form was way off and he was, as we now know, struggling with an injury. Just beggars belief.

I don't know if he stubbornly refused, so much as Sonny said he was ready and willing to play for the club with the lack of options we had at the time. Probably a mixture of Conte, Son and medical staff. I wouldn't place it all on Conte.

This is the pre-Danjuma part of the season, once he came in on loan he should have been rested.

🚨Ange Postecoglou on Heung-Min Son being a great ambassador for Tottenham Hotspur as captain:

🗣️"To be fair to Sonny, he always has been. He hasn't needed the armband to show his love for the football club."

Seemed like a slight doubt for today. Off early today suggests struggling somehow. Fingers crossed for next week.

He was doubtful before the game and you could see he wasn't a hundred percent throughout. Hopefully enough time to recover before the next one.

Rest him against Luton. No better time to try out other variations up top as we might need to do without him at some point.

Went off early last week too, which is a concern.
I don't know.

Sonny expended a lot of energy early. Closed down a lot, at pace. And supposedly carrying a little niggle.

I think the plan is probably always going to involve subbing him. Given his age and importance - it's probably better to get 75 minutes from him for nearly every match, than it is for him to play 90 more often, but then miss the odd game. More minutes means more opportunity for muscles to be fatigued, and then injured.
