Is it just me that assumed we’d have the ‘him’ big sorted and it would be the ‘they’ we were waiting on?!

Waiting on him now, otherwise all agreed from what i hear(y)

Most reports yesterday (reliable press & ITK) said that a complete agreement was close, and that a medical was scheduled for today so this info seems to follow suit. Here’s hoping for an announcement today or tomorrow.

Why do you disagree @Luke van der bale?
I just don’t see Winks, Sissoko and Ndombele all in the same midfield as our best option. We’d need Liverpool-levels of output from the fullbacks if we played that 3. We’d also be negating one of our biggest strengths currently, which is our talent in attacking midfield. Far more likely to be 2 of them, with Eriksen and Dele both in the side.

For certain periods, say holding onto a lead away from home, we will see that three together certainly. But no way do I see that as our first choice side.

I can't remember the last time Spurs fans were so excited about a signing, I'd suggest a lowering of expectations for a 22 year old moving to a new league and country. Some on here are talking like we're signing a combo of Hoddle and Mackay.

I've never seen him play so can't comment but let's see what happens without all the hype, for his sake mainly.

Oh don’t you worry, if he signs and doesn’t hit the heights straight away, we’ll have people comparing him to jenas and zokora in no time!

It's possible that it was sorted out last night and were just waiting for him to come in and sort out any minor details and sign the contract. Wasn't the medical meant to be today anyway?

Edit - just as Val says no medical today.

I would start both sissoko and ndombele as starting eleven
Pochettino certainly could in certain games where we need more power. Winks/Ndombele where we need more craft and penetration. Dier, Wanyama and Skipp to all rotate through depending on fitness, cup competitions or even a third body in their to crowd out the midfield.

I think the main point here is if we sign Ndombele, he provides us with a quality tactical alternative to line up with. Something Pochettino hasn't had the option of doing all season.

You may be right, and 442-Diamond is in no way my preferred formation, it's just that it seemed to be Poch favoured it alot towards the backend of last season - even playing it in the CL final.

I respect your points but you have to consider having the immense running power of NDombele and Sissoko will negate the need of such high energy full backs. Those two will help us get up the pitch and therefore the full backs will just need to position themselves correctly to help with width when we get into the attacking third. Don't get me wrong, Liverpool level fullbacks will certainly be a plus but I feel you are overstating there requirement with this team a little. Also, Dele/Eriksen are both much more effective higher up the pitch and central. With a base of Ndombele, Sissoko, Winks - which combines power, finesse, incision and control - it will allow are attackers to concentrate much more at what they're good at rather than having to come deep and help control the midfield which happened so often last season.

Buzzing! However I can imagine that the "Let's all laugh at Tottenham" threads of our opponents are in for a treat when they discover all these hidden song writing talents on here.
