I haven't wanted someone so bad since Bernard Duarte.

The thing that strikes me most about this guy is not the dribbling, the strength on the ball or the passing, it’s the intelligence that knits all of them together. He shows strength on the ball and a dribbling ability akin to Dembele, with a passing range that reminds me of De Bruyne, but it’s the knowing when to dribble and when to release that pass that really stands out for me.
Talented players are great, intelligent talented players are worth their weight in Gold, especially with an engine like he has.

For me, this is the signing that we absolutely MUST get over the line, our frontline will fill their boots with this guy providing a supply, especially Son, I think Ndonbele is tailor made to make goals for Son.

Just realised who he reminds me of stylistically: Abou Diaby. That lad would have been a massive player for Woolwich. Fortunately, he made Darren Anderton look like Bruce Willis in Unbreakable.

In my opinion, NDombele is a classic example of how player value is relative to the buying (and selling) club.

For the 'elite' clubs in the world, they most probably already have very good centre-mid options. Adding NDombele would improve their squad, but might not see them win that many more games a season because of it.

'Lesser' clubs would certainly benefit from NDombele in their first XI, but his effectiveness would be mitigated by the reduced skill-levels of the players around him.

For Spurs, however, we could spend £80m or £90m on NDombele and he would be worth every penny, because he'd be a crucial piece in the puzzle; a 22 year old who replaces Dembele, shores up our midfield, makes playing against us a nightmare and greatly adds to the effectiveness of the whole team.

It's a little bit like Liverpool's VVD who everyone thought was over-priced, but for Liverpool he was a bargain.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that a general ball-park value for a player can be useful, but it certainly doesn't tell the whole story.

The comparison with VVD I think is spot on. I was actually one of those who thought pool got rinsed for the price they paid, but it turns out he was worth every penny and more.

This is one of those players where if we have to miss out on a possible additional player by paying the asking price, then we’ll have take that on the chin, he’ll transform our midfield imo, which is more important than an additional player.

Spot on. Buying a player is not like buying a tin of beans where you can hunt around for the same tin of beans where it’s cheapest.

You can place a market value on a player based on many factors, but a lot of the time the true value is inherent to how much the buying club needs the player and how much the selling club needs to retain them.

Retired from football a few months ago because of injuries

Wasn't he one of the several Arsenal players who ended up with a horrific injury as a direct result of the belief that they didn't like being "roughed up"?

Everyone compares him to Dembele and I have even seen Kante...but he really reminds me of Yaya Toure. He is the number 1 target for me. We have to sign him!

Yaya my favourite non spurs player to play in the prem so this explains my desperation for this signing.

Not sure what you mean (?)
It was a horrible tackle that did for him.
Diaby, Eduardo vs. Birmingham, Ramsey vs. Stoke - I think there was another one as well. Teams used to go way over the top with physicality against Arsenal and as a result they suffered more than their fair share of horrendous injuries.

Anyway, I shall be very pleased if we sign Ndombélé - he looks like he's got a bit of everything.

Ah, that is a shame.
