Just yesterday the player actually used his own mouth to say:
"I'm going to go on my holidays. And after that I'll try to see what I can do."
I'm sure he told his agent where he's going though and there's a fair chance he'll take his phone with him.
I wonder if a player can sign a contract after agreeing personal terms awaiting the clubs to complete their business and if his agent holds it ready to exchange upon completion he can enjoy his holiday.

this is the point where we need to do what Liverpool did with VVD and Allison - manager identifies a player they really want. club spends whatever it takes to get them for said manager.

this is not the time to mess around and end with the lesser targets.

if he is what Poch wants (same goes for Lo Celso and Sess), then their value to us could be immeasurable, just like VVD to Liverpool.
I am not following blindly by giving you an agree or winner because I disagree with your stance just because of a pertinent point. That is both VVD and Allison WANTED to go to Liverpool where VVD even went on strike to force the move. There is no evidence that either of those plays we want, actually want to come us other than showing an interest, not the same commitment. So the argument to suggest that we on our part aren't doing our best to acquire these two is flawed.

Great post.

I'd just like to justify the appearance of "panic" on the forum - myself included. The perception is that Pochettino is a fussy manager in terms of player purchases. His ethos built around hard work, technical skill, adaptability and a team that plays for each other means he wants a specific type of player.

So the concern on early transfer silence is that:
1) We will be gazumped in the market by clubs ready to splash the cash. Anyone who thinks Man Utd do not represent a massive draw to most players around the world have Spurs-tinted spec on. Massive wages (relative to Spurs), reputation, playing at OT and being part of that history is hard to turn down. Particularly when you're likely to be starting games.
2) Not getting in the players Pochettino wants means we delay further because he won't necessarily be happy with what the rest of the Spurs transfer committee deem suitable and available.

Of course there's ages to go for Spurs to pull off some great work but the fact that we've already been linked with a failed bid(s) for Lo Celso is concerning because he's really caught the eye. Ndombele is in the same position.
Sure, and I'm in the 'a little worried but not panicking just yet' group as I feel we really do need to get things done relatively early. However, I realise that mid-June isn't a time to panic as it's still very early - the fact that we've supposedly bid for both players is a good sign IMO, as it shows we've gone in early to gain an understanding of the costs and draw out any other interested parties, from here we can make our intention known to the player and discuss personal terms etc.

Therefore we need to play a little waiting game, see if there is any other interest that their respected clubs are obviously waiting for, if not we can start to apply a bit of pressure into making them sell. If there is interest then we will need to bite the bullet and be prepared to fight off any other parties by paying more.

We could offer a higher bid early on but it seems a waste of time as their respected clubs will only ask for more, and will likely still be waiting for a bidding war. It's very very rare for a club to cave in early on a player who may have many suitors, in fact it's bordering on stupidity from a business angle - as is bidding too high too early.

As I recall with Allison, there was supposedly a strong interest from Madrid and some thought he'd go there rather than Liverpool. Now either they weren't really serious about him or Madrid scoffed at the figure and chose the cheaper Courtois.

Madrid have a lot of money, but I really don't see them coming out of the blue and splashing 70m on Ndombele. I also think Madrid will pursue Pogba the entire window, which would be good for us as Ndombele will likely feel only our interest is real.

63 million, in this insane market, for a guy of this quality at his age, with a ceiling being the sky's the limit is a very reasonable price.

If that's accurate, I'd like to think this is close to being agreed.

I am hoping it is just game playing....Lyon say you have to pay £63m...They get deal as they told us what to pay and we got them down from £70m

Edit: If AWB is £50m Tanguy is a snip at £63m

N’dombers, Lo Celso, Sess, Jack Clarke and a mobile, robust RB and that’s as good as we could ever expect.

Come on, fuckers- let’s do this

Give it a rest with the punctuation and spell checks please. Getting very tiresome to read
Calm down- one man’s shit is another man’s sugar as my Irish nan used to yell.

But, I swear I’ll give up grammar pedantry as soon as we sign one of our big targets
