I'd like to add my name to those who didn't write him off. I knew he had quality and he has come into his own this season.

We all have opinions and they can alter over time, as players improve, situations change and form fluctuates etc, that's football.
A lot of the time we unaware of the all the reasons why players are playing the way they are, whether it's injuries, personal issues, bad form or lack of confidence etc.

Was looking back through some posts this summer, including my own. The amount of shite thrown at this guy is unbelievable now, yet pretty deserved at the time. I remember doubling down on his ability and work ethic, especially after he returned to training. The amount of people on here calling him LAZY - we’re talking about a nobody of a prospect who made it from Ligue 2 to bossing Barca and City in the CL in two seasons - was absurd. I will also admit worrying that fitness or personality clashes with Jose were holding him back from ever reaching that potential. He was giving lazy performances and I think a lot of people who wanted him sold wouldn’t have been wrong at the time.

But the time is now, and Tanguy has arrived. When Moussa Dembele was sold to China I thought there would be dozens of years before I ever saw a Spurs player with the ball control he has. N’Dombele may already be there in less than 18 months as a Spurs player.

Watch this compilation and I bet you’ll start laughing when you see what he did to Kante and Silva. He’s a genius, seriously reminds me of Ronaldinho in tight spaces in that he is completely unique with his body feints. Never seems to do the same move twice. Pogba hasn’t put in a performance like this in years.

What I really like about him, is that he doesn’t over do it and mess up like many players do. There is always end product, be it a pass, cross or shot on goal. One of the first names on the team sheet. Like I said before had that of been NDombele with the late opportunity and not Lo Celso. He would have fed in Kane.

The way we set up, it basically all on him to break the opponents press and start almost every meaningful attack. It puts great responsibility on him, but it also ensures that the opponents know this, and will have two or three guys pressing him, which he will generally deal with very easily, and it really gives him a good opportunity to strut his stuff.

On the other hand, if so much wasn't placed on his shoulders, maybe he wouldn't have to use so much explosiveness every time he got the ball, but could sometimes give others the responsibility to instigate attacks and maybe not tire so quickly.

Yeah, I thought Gio was terrible when he came on which is a real shame. Be interesting to see when we finally get treated to them as a pair though.
Yep, not Lo Celso’s best showing, and more worryingly, he was brought on for fresh legs and looked more leggy than Ndombele when he came on (like he’d been playing for an hour already!).

let's be honest my man

the abuse Tanguy received here was absolutely disgusting.
I don't think I've seen another player recieve the same treatment.

Ndombele has played well recently and is definitely giving us a way out to help us break the lines. The last couple of games perhaps even further than that his passing, which is usually pretty awesome, has been lacklustre although I get that he plays the risky passes which are necessary to break the press etc

Completely. As I said before it was self perpetuating. Someone would state an outright unproven statement as a hypothesis then it slowly became fact as so many people were repeating it.

I've been a fully paid-up member of his fan club from the beginning here. Even at his worst last season, it was obvious that he offered something that none of the rest had. I didn't quite get the constant slagging off he was receiving here (as well as everywhere else tbh). He isn't the first player to struggle to adapt in a new country, and he won't be the last either. But so much of the criticism just came across as really hateful. And even now when he's looking like an absolute baller, the praise from some quarters is still somewhat begrudging, and people choose to focus on his fitness rather than his quality. Because running around looking busy and being niggly is preferable to actually making things happen, it seems.

Despite those awesome moments of skill it was a 7/10 performance imo. He has such a high ceiling to improve. He was controlling games for Lyon and I can't wait to see him do that for us.

His talent is off the charts. I can't think of too many more skillful players that I've ever seen. He's incredible. He could be the best midfielder in the league. No doubt in my mind, but...
- can he last 90 minutes? Genuine question. Is he just physically limited in his stamina, and how it ties to the way he plays? If he can, it'll make a massive difference
- will Jose play him with GLC. Against weaker teams in particular, surely we've got to try

If the answer to both is yes, and he sticks around, he could be the bed rock of the entire side.

Think we will really see the best of him second half of the season when he is at peak fitness. I'm thinking the same with Bale.
We could be a frightening prospect once the Europa group is out of the way.

He even said himself in the reality show that was our Amazon Doc that he "wasn't concentrating properly" so the claims that he was a bit of a joke last year are not totally unfounded. I certainly wont begrudgingly give a player praise especially as last year I was absolutely irate with his attitude. But this year, my word, he's been brilliant in some games. I would really love for him to be able to last 90 minutes (I'm sure he could but I question Jose rather than TN about why he gets taken off around the 60 minute mark every game), and for me, his turnaround is great and he's currently the second name on the teamsheet for me behind Kane. Hope it continues and hope Jose trusts him to complete 90 mins sooner rather than later. We really miss him when he is not in the side.

Quiet game for him but Chelsea were tapping his legs all the time he was on the pitch.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he rivals Grealish for most fouled player this year, everyone seems to be kicking him constantly this year. It’s almost impossible to get the ball off the guy and he’s vital to our counter attack, so it’s no wonder they are all fouling him. Hope he starts lasting longer in matches soon though.

I'd go as far to say he's unique. The way he changes direction so dramatically or wriggles out of tight spaces whilst keeping the ball glued to his foot is just incredible. Then his passes that seem to come from nowhere - fizzed into a team mate who is seemingly behind an opposition player. Amazing talent and if his confidence and fitness keep improving, he could be as vital as Kane & Hojbjerg currently are.

incredibly talented and his getting away from markers is brilliant. don't have stats, but don't think his ball retention is great (admittedly his passing is more progressive than dembele's, but even in less 'risky' scenarios) and needs to have a great influence on matches IMO.
