Delusions of grandeur. It's the same when certain players are mooted as transfer targets (e.g. Jonny Evans), and they get dismissed by some as not being to the required standard for a top four club. I would like more signings like PEH from Southampton. There are players within the PL and Championship that would improve the squad, wouldn't cost the earth and don't need time to adjust to the physical nature of the PL. We could also use fringe players wisely and go for more trades. After the KWP / PEH deal with Southampton, maybe do something similar with Norwich and trade Skipp for Aarons. £55m for Ndombele was a crazy risk. We should buy / develop closer to home.

We have a problem with the midfield and you want to trade our own product who was one of the best players in the championship?

Really don’t understand this post. You say we should look for players in the championship and that we should buy/develop closer to home and want to get rid of Skipp...???

Skipp isn’t going to fix the problems in our midfield. Aarons could have a bigger impact.

What?

Skipp goes some way to fix a problem in our midfield, he was arguably the best player in the Championship this season.

It's weird you want to swap him for a player who hasn't made as big as an impact as Skipp.

Exactly. Skipp fixes one of our biggest problems this year: we could never rest PEH and not absolutely shit ourselves with fear so PEH got gassed and died halfway through the year having played every minute.

Ryan Mason on Spurs injuries: "Ben Davies is the only one that has not been training, Tanguy and Lucas didn't train for the majority of last week, they trained the day before the game but this week we have had a fully fit squad."

Asked Mason about those Lucas and Ndombele injuries and he said Lucas had a knock from the cup final that took a little while to shake off and Ndombele a muscle problem. Both fine now.

Gards did say Tanguy had a knock tbf. Maybe he was there in case of emergency but we chose not to take risks?

he deserves a chance but I agree people are putting a lot of faith in him.

My thoughts, too. Skipp looks a tidy player but whether or not he is our midfield saviour, who knows?

IMO, Skipp has done more than enough in the Championship this season to merit the opportunity to see if he can continue his fine displays in the Premier league with Spurs.

He might not be the answer, but he's certainly earnt the right to see if he can be.

You'd think he'll at least be a very useful squad player with plenty of scope to improve

Why didn't Mason say he was injured after the final?

Why say the subs we brought on had an effect nonsense.

I feel this is the case for many spurs fans, when it comes to spurs players, they think they are much better than they really are. Remember people saying back 3-4 years ago, what we could possibly buy, as it was so hard to find anything better than what we had, Yeah thing is it was a lot of players out there that could improve almost evert position we have. But we (my self included sometimes ) often think some of our "best players" are the creme de la creme.

Always found that argument absurd. Some posters would tie themselves up in knots trying to claim we're stuck in sort of liminal space where teams below us have options and teams above us have options and teams competing with us have options but only Spurs are in a position where players are too shit or too expensive to improve us.

And now it's the opposite where so many claim our players are absolutely useless and wouldn't get into a Brighton lineup.
