LOL,

started 28 games, subbed on in 5. only players with more minutes were pierre, hugo, son, kane, dier, reguilon & toby.

So only 7 of the other first 11 had more minutes than Ndombele. ONLY 7. And this in a position where his competition is Winks and Sissoko. What an absolute marathon man he is.

So, as per the report , Ndombele-Mckennie swap is Paratici idea. He is discussing with Juve DoF Cherubini....Juve wants to move him on to get Pjanic though. So, Juve is having doubts.

Pjanic wants Juve. So, FP has to convince Juve to take Ndombele instead of Pjanic... On plus side, Ndombele wages are lesser than Pjanic and he is younger.

Really want this deal to happen

Surely you watched the games? Ndombele's 'pressing' was an absolute joke. Gently jogging/walking toward a player is not a press, despite what the stats say. He played okay on occasion, sure, but the main issue is that he literally wastes one of our subs because he can't be bothered to get in shape and compete for a full game. He's only managed 10 x 90' games in the league since he's been here. And it's not like he's pulled up any trees when he has played either, no matter how many step-overs he does. It's one thing 'progressing' the ball past a player, but if you then just flop to the ground, or do nothing else, then it's all just a waste, which sums up his career with us and the money spent on him. IMHO.
Yeah it's a press and what a surprise - of Spurs players only Toby had better % of successful pressures than him and only Dele and Gio had more successful pressures per 90 than him.

Saying it now, Statsbomb who is used by hundreds of professional clubs is more qualified to say what is a pressure than your eyes.

Only Arsenal made more subs than us last season. We had relatively few injuries, as someone pointed out on Twitter most often you aren't subbing GK, Son, Kane, Hojbjerg or defence. You want to make subs so Ndombele is good candidate, especially with Lo Celso on the bench - 7 subs like this made in first 14 games.
His fitness is fine, he suddenly started to play much more every match when Lo Celso was injured

Hmmm…sort of a defensive minded 8 who will get forward too. He’s a 22 year old American central midfielder who is pretty combative, pressing, tireless, physical. Cant think of a good comparison.

I'm biased but would love to see McKennie. My uninformed opinion is he runs and presses a lot more than NDom, but handles the ball better than, say, Sissoko. I realize running and pressing more than Ndom and ball handling better than Moussa is a low bar, but he's done well at Juve (and on USMNT, another door open to your friends and fans on this side of the Atl, :) )

I thought the latest ITK scuttled this link but I have a hard time keeping track across the threads....one to watch?

edit to add: 'scuttled' too strong.
romano via dov "mckennie - not in talks, fabio reulctant to buy from juve, but lets see "

Has this been posted?

As expected really, as we've gone a bit crap since he signed, but I assumed it was collectively.

View attachment 95046

There were numerous matches last season (6 or more?) where we were 1-0 up with Ndombele on the pitch when we scored, then he was substituted at 65-70 mins and we went on to lose points. I don't think those stats take that into account. Context matters.

Why do people keep saying “has to be one of the worst signings the club’s ever made”?

He is undoubtedly the worst signing the club’s ever made outright!

Terrible value for money

Judging by the ratings you've got here, I've got nothing but admiration for @DavidSpurs13 .

Fighting a lonely battle, the crazy mofo.

For me, he is more like Tielemens but only Mckennie tends to play more short passes in build up than Tielemens who does few long passes.. Mckennie scores quite a few headed goals. Also he doesnt concede possession that easily. Protects the ball well.
Sometimes, when he presses , his enthusiasm gets the better of him - concedes few more fouls.

It definitely seems that our best option is to find a swap deal, based on the following:
1. He clearly doesn't want to be here.
2. Nuno clearly doesn't see a future for him here. He's run afoul now of Poch, Jose, Mason, and Nuno, so it doesn't seem like more time will solve anything.
3. There are very few clubs that we can do any sort of deal with for Tanguy. We paid a LOT of money for him and will want to recoup as much of that value as we can. Further, he is on big wages and seems to only be interested in going to a big club.
4. None of those clubs that would normally be after him can afford him, and even if they could, it isn't clear that anyone would want to take that risk.
5. So our only recourse is finding a big club that also needs to offload a player and is willing to take a flyer on Tanguy to get rid of their player.

So the trade links to Bayern for Tolisso and Juve for McKennie do make a lot of sense. Not sure what other trades might get brought up, but I'm sure we'll hear more creative solutions to deal with the Tanguy problem.

I personally hope the McKennie rumors are true. I've raved about Wes on here a bunch in the past, but in my opinion he is perfectly built for the Premier League. The kid is all action. He never stops running - he's got an incredible engine. He is super versatile; at Schalke I'm pretty sure he played every single position except goalkeeper. In some ways he reminds me of Dele, in that he makes really smart runs into the box and is not afraid to be audacious. Also like Dele, he will probably give the ball away cheaply sometimes. He is a great header of the ball and has a leap like Moura, so he would be in among the goals. He seems to have a great attitude, and he is always competitive and combative. He's a winner. No idea why Juve are considering getting rid - he always seemed to be one of their better players last year when I watched them. He seems like the perfect option to rotate with Hjoberg, Dele, and Lo Celso if we're going to keep playing the 6 and double 8's formation we played last week.

Oh no, using more accurate data!

Oh come on.

You spent this morning going back & forth with me, trying to use xG to prove that Bergwijn has a good finishing rate. And now you're trying the same thing to somehow attempt to prove that there's something positive about NDombele?

I think my last response to you, re Bergwijn, was very much spot on, and you just enjoy arguing for the sake of it.

NDombele has been, and will continue to be nothing but an unmitigated disaster & a total waste of over £60M.

Absolute workhorse. Contributed goals last season with his forays forward. Not the most technically gifted player but is a real nuisance. Still so young and I feel like he’s only going to get better. Also a really enjoyable character.
