Always maintained that our best, if not only, hope of having a chance of top 4 was getting the best of Ndombele. He has one of the highest ceilings in our squad amd the alternatives are so underwhelming.

Weirdly enough, I don't think his passing was up to his usual high standards today. He rarely hit those hard and fast passes to anyone. Outside of that, was great to see him tracking back and trying to press high and cut off passing lanes today.

Great performance from him today. When he is confident you can see how he wants to be on the ball all the time. Great goal as well.

The only thing I will say is that he had quite a lot of time on the ball as Newcastle didn't really press that hard, my concern being how he will play next week against the hammers who will fight a lot harder I suspect.

A joy to watch today and the numbers are impressive as well:

Yep. Credit where it's due, I thought he was one of my MOTM's today. Didn't put a foot wrong and lasted the full 90+ minutes.

Now, he needs to do that every week, and if he does, he'll convert me.

EDIT: And he scored a screamer!

Fantastic goal and got himself into some good positions but I honestly felt we were playing a mid table championship team today , if he plays aswell against West Ham next week I will start believing in him but he literally had the freedom of the park today so it’s very hard to get overexcited.

Best game he’s had for us. The n.o 10 role in 4-2-3-1 suits him. He was in his element today.

ANDDD he didn’t just play 60 mins or 70,80,90, but 94 minutes of football!!!

Still think he goes down too often and too softly but as we’ve all said all along there is a player there, if he’s now fit and we can keep picking this team and formation hopefully we can now see performances like today consistently, if so with him behind a front 3 and full backs bombing on we might just have a half decent season.

His best run of form before now had been when Mourinho played him in a slightly more advanced role ahead of Hojbjerg and Sissoko. Now we are trying this again with Skipp in for Sissoko and we start to see the benefits of him being unleashed.

We've always known he was a talented player, but what's good to see now is that he appears to be taking a bit more responsibility to impose himself on games and to show why he came with such a big reputation. He plays like a kid in the playground with a freedom and flair that you don't really see from many of our players these days.

Cracking goal today as well. I think people saw him as a Dembele replacement, partly because of his name but also because he's so tough to get the ball off. But if he carries on getting into attacking positions and driving at goal like he did today, I'd love to see him evolve into a Yaya Toure style attacking midfielder that's not only physically imposing but also a real goal threat to take some of the burden off Kane & Son.

I've given him a hard time but that was the £60m hottest prospect in Europe we bought yesterday. I'm not going to get carried away though until he can turn it on consistently.

People genuinely think Lo Celso is better than this chap. We need to persevere with him and accept that he will 1. Look laconic and 2. Have quiet games sometimes.

Looks like moving Sissoko and Aurier on has put him in a better head space.

I'd argue that the protracted pre-season helped the most. He looks miles fitter than he has looked at any stage of his career with us.
