Ndombele has flopped but we also shouldn’t have signed him given that other than 1-2 seasons at Lyon he had only played lower league football. We made the same mistake with Janssen. Both players were doomed before they even kicked a ball for us. You can have all the talent in the world but if you can’t meet the physical demands of the EPL then you’re screwed. This was a major oversight on our part.

Whereas with our now reported targets they’ve all played at the top level and in decent leagues. Said players should adjust much better to Conte’s demands than some of our former recruitments.

… is what any other club would say about taking Tanguy.

I don’t see a lot of people desperate to take Juve bench players, just people realistically accepting a swap of castoffs might be the only way to get a real return from him. Turning a useless (to us) player into a useful one can be good business, if the alternative is the useless player sits in the stands and makes 200k per week.
Mostly Paratici signings. Will be interesting to see if he's interested in them again.

Was very obvious what Conte thought of Ndombele early on. Our best bet is to hope another club wants to swap their own expensive secret Santa disaster. Doubt anyone will pay a substantial loan fee, or even pay all Ndombele's wages.

We can't compete for the best players so sometimes we have to take a gamble with our signings, but I'd hope we'd look a bit more into someone's mental/behavioural side when forking out so much. I can't see why he can't get physically fit enough.

What I found interesting in AGs most recent YouTube post was his comments regarding Ndombele in warm up. Said he just strolls about, watches game and just doesnt show he should be picked to come on and has done this kind of lethergic stroll pretty much everytime he warms up.
So what I would like to know is this, is this just since he has been at spurs? Or has he always been like this?
I find it hard to believe its only since he's been at Spurs so... wtf are our scouts doing? Did they not pick up on this? Clearly not.
I'll be glad when he's gone and replaced with someone who looks like they actually give a shit.

It's scandalous, piss poor scouting.

He's a luxury player in a team that cannot afford a luxury player, under a manager who does not countenance luxury players. Put him in a dominant side in a league with a slower pace of play such as Serie A or Spain and he'd be amazing. Unfortunately for us and for him, he's just not suited to the club.

Agree. He even walks like he's strolling up a beach lol. I can't remember the last time I saw a player with such poor body language.
We bought a 'wrong un' as 'arry' would say... do we know who scouted him, because circa. £60 million is an insane loss on one player (we might get some back on resale admittedly)... ah well, onwards and upwards.

What’s out of order is the fact that he has soaked 200k a week out of our club for as long as he has.

And it’s our tv subscriptions and match ticket money goes into his pocket. The warming up news is disgraceful really.

I don't think it is possible to shift him. His performance + his wage = we are f*cked
Poch wanted him. maybe a loan to PSG?

What a waste of talent.

I hope we’re now doing our due diligence on the application of players before signing them.

Some posters on this very site raised concerns around this guy’s desire / effort and application before we signed him

My uneducated guess is that Poch saw himself as someone who could motivate anyone - and he could, in the first few years with us - and that this allowed him to get Tanguy as a project player.

Ally G went on a long diatribe about Tanguy on his pod today. He's been a Tanguy fanboy (considers himself a card carrying member/President of the Tanguy fan club).

Best player at the club on the ball, worst player off of it. You see him do something amazing then loaf around after, warming up half-heartedly on the sidelines during matches while other players look focused on getting ready to go in the game. He said it's a body language thing, not an out of shape thing and that he's been told by people at the club Tanguy is in the best shape of his career.

Mine: Just might not have the drive to be a Prem Leaguer and would go back to France or Spain or Italy where it's not required of you to be "on" 100% of every match and he'll kill it there.

The club offered him a contract, that had been negotiated by both sides, which contained the purported 200K/week. This contract would have been based on a thorough review of his playing history, personality and background. I'm not, in any way, defending his attitude or lack of commitment, but to say he soaked the club is just not 100% true, both he and the club are culpable.
