I'm so clever :D

I really don't understand what people are whinging about. Our defence has had major issues since Ledleys knees finally got the better of him. We now have two very good centre backs who have played together many times, both premiership experienced, international team mates, in their prime, with two great young centre backs who mirror the two Belgians in skillset very closely waiting in the wings, both of whom have proven themselves in a top league. Even further down the line, there's the even younger Veljkovic and Vickers, who have both had wonderful youth international tournaments. In between are Kaboul, Chiriches and Fazio, the former two being totally obsolete now and the latter being pretty dispensable too, though I imagine that he will be kept in case of emergency for one more year.

On top of that, we have four young, talented, premiership proven fullbacks.

If the tactics off the ball are up to scratch, and if all CMs do their jobs properly, we will be a very good proposition defensively.

As I said earlier, all we really need now is an alternative to Kane, a leader in the middle and a fire sale of deadwood and we're done. It's only 09 July! Unheard of!

I think it's his aggressive passing that really gives him that extra dimension over any of our other central defenders in recent years. Yeah Ledley was very good at bringing the ball out of defense, but he wasn't casually pinging perfect 70 yarders left and right like Toby does. We know what he brings to our defense, but I think his ability to consistently switch the play is very important to our attack as well.

King could pass well within 40 yards or so, but left the long-balls to Dawson. I also don't recall him doing any Maradona turns.

(Before anyone bites my head off, Ledley is my all-time favourite player and, oh his day, I honestly don't think there was a better CB in the world.)

Being reported he has severe gastroenteritis. Hopefully recovers in time for Saturday, but it's a tiring experience.

Ramos is top class and has been his entire career, not just a great centre back but a great football who could probably play any position on the pitch.

That very description could be applied to Alderweireld. World class centre back.

And yes, Ledley was just as skillful. Never seen a centre back who could dribble up the left wing as well as him!

Very good defender, the best in the league this season by far. He is not elite though nor will he be, it will be interesting to see how he lines up against the top teams in the champions league.

So, it's confirmed then: All you do is talk nonsense. Right, glad we all got that out of the way.

You state he is the 'best in the league this season by far' then in the very next sentence you state 'he is not elite'. I'm confused. Oh and on form right now he is almost certainly one of the best in the world. If you agree he is the best defender in one of the top leagues in the world then surely that is the very definition of 'elite'.

Having a discussion with a troll about a player. This is bound to be productive.

He was signing of the season for me. Ali will turn out to be a better signing in the years to come but he has turned our defence into a rock! He's bought the very best out of Verts as well so it's like two signings in one. Used to piss me off how soft we always were at the back. Now we have the best defence in the league. Happy days at the back for Spurs.

Easily one of the best defenders in Europe. It's no coincidence that our defence is the tightest in the league. He and Lloris are the only real constants within that fact. Classy on the ball, a threat in the air and his reading of the game is superb. When Mangala and the other shite city have bought are going for £30m+ then you realise just what a bargain he was

Not quick, not good in the air, not a leader, not particularly aggressive and doesn't seem to organise all in all a cracking signing and just what we don't need, either buy a proper cb or let the boys we've got have a run at it, what are dier and wimmer gonna think never mind fazio(must be off if this happens?

Oh wow
