Wouldn't it be mad if Toby stayed, Bale came back, Martial joined and Eriksen signed a new contract. That would give Citeh a run for their money next year...
An optimistic rating just doesn't do this post justice, have you taken a blow to the head recently?

Whoops, day-dreaming and thinking aloud there. Didn't realise anyone was watching... ;)

I'd be happy with 2 out of the 4.

With rumours Yerry Mina may be joining Liverpool on loan could we be inadvertently improving another team by selling Toby to Barca?
He's a very good young CB, guess we would be put off idea of a loan as surely would make sense to include him in deal what with his fellow Colombian CB partner here too.

No it was for Toby, reflected the fact that everyone could acknowledge we had quality coming on. Even as a RB he is better than either Trippier or Aurier and as a CB he is the best at the club. We are going to miss him when he goes. There may be nothing we can do to stop him but people are way too sanguine about it and I think very mistaken if they think an 18 y/o de Ligt is going to be up to Toby’s quality initially.

Would people rather Toby signed on for the next 2-3 seasons, or sell now if we can definitely get De Ligt?
We need experience at the back right now. I think Sanchez, De Ligt and Foyth is too inexperienced without Jan there. If Toby went then i'd definitely want us to drop Dier back into defence instead of directly replacing him with De Ligt.

If Toby signed on then I wonder if we could bring De Ligt in and loan him back to Ajax for a season.

I think his mind is made up to go. Lets just make sure its to Barca. I cant begrudge him that. One last shot at the bigtime. But if he goes lets get De Ligt in without fail. He will be a star.

We have to get De Ligt in first. If we leave ourselves short it will bite us on the bum. Like when we lost Berbatov. Although, admittedly, we didn't really have any time to react to that.

Not sure we can afford to hold on if someone offer 50m.
Too much to lose up against the 25m. release clause.
Let's face it we've already taken the step into a future without him, for better or worse, with him being out of the side. Just have to hope and have faith in our ability to find a replacement.

I’ve been saying we should definitely get our replacement in first. He shouldn’t be allowed to go until we do. Don’t want another Walker situation then getting someone average in on the last day.

Bet it happens though.

Why are people still going on about De Ligt? Toby can’t get into the team and we have Foyth, who Poch keeps praising. I doubt we’re gonna spend £50m on a back up. Foyth and Dier will just provide cover when needed

He won't cost £50m but probably around £40m with all the add ons included.

De Ligt is exceptional and a real leader. He'll come as a potential first teamer straight away if he comes.

All just in my opinion though.

Replacing who? We’re not gonna go 3 at the back. We have too many good attackers to fit into two spots.

There are far more pressing areas to blow £40m on than centre back
