In conversation people will often say 'what he's saying is "summarised quote"'. It just looks weird in print.

We’re right to stand up to them, they get paid too much anyway.
@piedpiper in response to your quote to my post in the transfer thread last night. VVD might be on £180k a week, but that is 1 CB player in the whole league that's on more than £110 per week. he has been with us for 3 seasons, had 2 very long spells out, and yes 99% been a valuable defender for us, but no way is he worth the same as Kane or Eriksen.
£120 for a CB that might now be suspect to injuries and approaching 30 is ample. very much doubt many other players will receive over a 100% increase let alone ask for a 300% increase. he missed a big spell of matches in both our last 2 seasons, so it's not as if he is the main man, it's the whole unit.
We wont pay it but someone will. Might as well cash in on him whilst we can still get a great transfer fee. Utd need a strong CB and they will pay him 150k a week no problem. We either get in line and start paying our top players the money or we let them go and build again.
well news is at the moment no one is willing to pay it according to some ITK last week, and if they are only paying their CB's (mostly UNDER £100k a week) why will they pay him and unsettle others in their squad
Well he has upset nearly everyone else at Man United so a couple more won't be noticed.Im sure mourinho will have no problem unsettling smalling and jones lol

Reports seem to suggest we're talking to MU about a 75M deal for him. I'll be really p*ssed off it we sell him without getting someone like Martial or Rashford as part of the deal. It's time we stopped looking like we're a MU or any other sides feeder club.
We're all aware Man United are a club that pay Lindelof £120k per week and DO NOT EVEN PLAY HIM WHEN FIT.
They can afford to pay Toby the same. Let's not be silly.
Jones is on £50k a week
Smalling £80k
Bailly £80k
I've missed this, does Alderweireld literally lose money on transferring vs. the best deal Spurs offered?

Depends if Utd do sign him and decide to pay him the same as a fit Lindelof because they can afford it.
he forgot to mention contract lengths didn't he.
I think you're maybe being a bit much here, maybe have a little think about tone.
The silliness I mentioned was clearly in reference to people suggesting that only VVD earns over £100k as a defender. This isn't true.
I'm not ITK about this deal and no matter what size LOL font I use I won't claim to be.
Surely the "silly" bit would be Toby wanting, and securing a new deal that would've seen him recieve £130k per week,
to then demand £200k per weekfrom the club, and then move to Utd for £10k less than was first offered by ourselves.
Now that's silly.
...oh, and please don't suggest it's not just about money, he'd happily stay for £200k, but apparently not for £130k.
The wages we hear our players on is their base wage. Bonuses are on top of the 120k, were he to accept it, as they’re on top of his current 50k.Isnt our offer bonus related. Will he get the full 120k or will he have to earn it through bonuses
Isn't it weird how the pundits have gone from 'the game's gone/overpaid/obscene amounts...' to 'some clubs don't pay enough!' - it should be that some are paying too much and distorting the market.
Although maybe in a world of zero-hour contracts, the obscene amounts contribute to the escapism people need so it is beneficial to sell the fantasy. Especially as a lot of the money comes from TV rights which relies on subscriptions from the viewing public.
