I saw Godin linked to Juve yesterday. They suggested this valuation was a clause. Could be one to watch.

Swaps are certainly rare but with transfer fees escalating to astronomical levels they might become more common.

Pressure on clubs to achieve high fees and/or not strengthen rivals does make them more likely going forward IMO. Inter Milan just announced one today with Roma for Nainggolan.

Also with the supposed sell on percentage to Monaco maybe a swap suits United. They pay a lower price for Toby, we supposedly pay a lower fee for Martial, Monaco get their pants pulled down. I’m sure we’ve done a similar deal before.

Something like that. Or it may have been an official complaint. Not sure.
Edit - wiki says they complained to fifa who dismissed it. They then took swansea to the court of arbitration for sport.

quite simple really, sell him to Man U for 55+m this season unless another club gets involved which hasn't so far, or continue wasting wages on a player that Poch isn't happy with, so might not play as much as any replacement would, then sell him for a massive loss of 30m next season.
and all because he might stay fit, and might improve Man U's defence (no guarantee on either, he might not click with his new team "Suarez").
that 30m will go towards a very good replacement, or strengthen other areas
