He’s been a great servant to the club and was outstanding in his prime, sadly the last couple of seasons he’s been a shadow of his former self. He’s only going to regress further therefore I wish him well and hope he finds a new club in a less demanding league for the remainder of his career.

I really do hope it's a case of him asking to leave, rather than us choosing to move him on in preference of keeping Dier & Sanchez.

It's just my opinion, but those 2 should be out of the club long before Alderweireld.

Been a good servant to the club, and it'll be sad to see him leave, but it's also essential to the rebuild required that some of the old guard are shipped on. This is probably a transfer that makes sense for both parties in that respect.

I wonder if any of our purported CB targets have anywhere near the passing range of Toby? His long passing has been a valuable tool over the years.

Really sorry to hear this as he is probably a great influence on Rodon and Tanganga.

Just saw the first post in this thread :D

LOL. so did i. in fact, the first several pages are highly entertaining. goes to show how hard it really is to judge incoming talent and why one should probably couch their opinions with caveats lest you look a little foolish.

A shame, yes he's at a period where it would be ideal to get a reasonable figure for him, but he's still 100% the best CB currently at the club IMO. If we sell Toby and just look to bring in 'talented prospects' we could be left short at the back. Need to replace him with a top CB for sure.

I think it’s pretty clear that it’s not a case of choosing to get rid of TA ahead of Dier and Sanchez.

Dier and Sanchez are in low demand and in high salaries. The level of interest in them will likely be low.

He should probably be sold anyway. Just pray to god this doesnt mean Dier stays. Rather Sanchez stays. All 3 should be sold. We need a complete reboot at the back.

Probably time for him to move on it’s a shame that our two experience players behind him aren’t up to it. The hope is we sign well and Japhet and Rodon step up

best defender we have and with a good partner along side him would be still a massive player for us, other players should be well out the door before him and thats a fact, still a very good player

Why? We likely want to sell all 3.

If we don’t get offers for Dier and Sanchez then we’d still want rid of TA so I don’t see the connection.

100%. All I see around Twitter and here for the last few months have been get rid of Sanchez and Dier.

Both of them have contracts that run until 2024, and Sanchez was at one time a record signing! I'm sure the club wouldn't sell either of them for less than 30m, and I just can't see what clubs would be interested in them. Dier isn't HG either, so can't see him getting the English premium!

Although I will say Toby took a big pay increase on his last new contract, so should be interesting to see if he takes a pay cut to join a team back in Belgium.

So if we want rid of Dier, Sanchez and TA in that order and we don’t get any interest for the first two you would keep TA despite him saying he wants to leave?

Will be gutted to see him leave before Sanchez and Dier. We should sell them first, keep Toby as he has little to no sale value and is better.
