Whilst that's true, in 2008-09 the wage bill was 'only' £62.5m, and we were the 10th-biggest payers. It's increased by an average of £10m a season since, and now we're the fifth-biggest. Nevertheless, we're still turning a profit, just.

I still think we have one of the best Wages / Revenue percentages in the league at around 60% , only bettered by Man Utd and Arsenal

Yeah...but that would have been 500 times worse than anything that has happened in this window. It was important, last summer, that Levy put his foot down, and particularly with clubs like Cheslea. I totally agreed with him and he did a brilliant job in telling them chavs to fuck off because we were aspiring to be their rivals and not their feeder club. There were several threads on it, last summer - perhaps you could conduct a search and read through the complex arguments presented therein?

Chelsea made the same bid this summer. Thanks for the smarmy reply though.

Was it a smarmy reply?

It was a strident reply - I don't care what Chelsea offered last year, and don't care for trying to usse it as a stick ot beat Levy with because he wouldn't accept Real's low-ball offer. Accepting a bid off Cheslea last year, under those circumstances in particular, may well have put the club back years, and I am bluddy glad he told Roman to roll it up, smother it in pitch, set it alight and stick it up his dodgy Russian mafia arse. Besides, you kinda miss the point that Cheslea, too, offered a desirory bid until very late in the window - so all you are suggesting is that we should have accepted one derisory, low-ball offer last season to a club in the EPL for this one this year, or that we swapped holding on until the last minute in order to sell to a club in the EPL last year, for doing the same with a club outside of the EPL this...right? Besides, there are serious grounds to doubt that Chelsea ever made a £40 million bid, you may like to check that part of the claim.

If you think I was being smarmy in advising you to find one of the threads from last year I wasn't, I would just worry about anyone who seriously thought we should have accepted any bid from Chelsea last Summer for Modric, and could only imaging you doing so from lasck of information on the subject (y)
