I asked Poch a couple of questions about Lamela's contract and that nutmeg today during his press conference. Safe to say he wasn't a fan of the latter. Here are his answers.
Very intrigued by this- usually Poch is quite calm about transfers as if they aren't a big deal, but he really seems intent on signing a few players:I asked Poch a couple of questions about Lamela's contract and that nutmeg today during his press conference. I don't like the timing of that comment coinciding with Zaha's agent saying that we bid for him.Very intrigued by this- usually Poch is quite calm about transfers as if they aren't a big deal, but he really seems intent on signing a few players:
Pochettino was also asked about speculation that Lamela could be set for a new deal after his fine performances in the last 12 months.
"A lot of rumours. We need to wait to see what happens in the next few days," he said.
"We are very focused on trying to add some players. I think we are more focused now on trying to improve our squad than trying to improve the contracts of our players."
What do you mean?I don't like the timing of that comment coinciding with Zaha's agent saying that we bid for him.
They seem contradictory...Poch said he was trying to improve the squad....I don't like the timing of that comment coinciding with Zaha's agent saying that we bid for him.
I mean Poch saying we are very focused on adding players and at the same time, we appear to have a bid rejected for Zaha, which make it seem like we really are after Zaha and it isn't just an agent trying to get his client a pay rise. What do you mean?
Nothing wrong with it. Skillful, effective play. If you've got the skill, flaunt it. It's not like he was deliberately rubbing Townsend's nose in it.
“I thought ‘Erik, why did you do that?’ It was brilliant to watch. I just wish it was against another player and not Andros,” Rose said. “I didn’t realize I put my hands on my head until afterwards. It was a brilliant nutmeg. When Andros was here, he always used to get nutmegged five or six times in a training session. I was actually thinking throughout the game that he’s done well not to get nutmegged today and Erik did that. It was brilliant. So, sorry Andros...”
