I hope he stays

But who knows with the window closing on Tuesday 1st September at 18:00 BST. :cautious:

At least I won't be staying up past midnight to post late transfers on the front page

Play him up front with Kane. This guy can shoot and pass players in tight positions. Play him up front....he is a natural No. 10 although he doesn't know it. Defensive or attacking midfielder no. Let the man damage opponents with his skill. He could be a Gazza or Keane.

Dembele has all the qualities to be a top-footballer, but I think its high-time he stops whining about the system & step up his game if he wants to secure a starting berth for the club.

Enough coaches have tried to find his best position where now I've come to the conclusion that its less the system & more the player. Dembele is fast running out of positions he's been tried in; he's been centre-forward, a no.10, a wide-man, centre-midfielder etc. The way he's going he'll end up a Goalie or in the stands.

If we got a sizeable bid from any team, then I would seriously consider it & give Carroll the push he deserves.

Dembele's numbers just don't add up in terms of goals assists and other important stats.

I think if we're looking a position for Dembele he should play in one of the 3 positions behind the main striker.

I don't think he has the speed of thought or has a picture in his mind before he gets the ball, yes he can uses instinct to dribble past people and strength to hold them off but I just don't think he has vision, I like him and would start him against United as he provides muscle and can hold on to the ball to help when we are under pressure, but I don't think he is the player we want him to be, I think he needs to understand what he can do, like parker played his best when he did the simple things well broke up play passed the ball to modric, bale, Lennon, or vdv quickly, dembele needs to know his strengths and play to them.

If he can figure that out, he might try something easier next time such as figuring out the Greek economy.

He needs to learn that after shifting the ball he needs to shoot quickly or make the pass. It's annoying when he tries to beat the same man again and again until play catches up and they have 10 men behind the ball.

I think he can be a tank upfront if he could maximize his skill and confidence. He can shoot, pass defenders, and very good body balance.

I couldn't see him scoring regularly, but as a hold up man and outlet he could be very effective as a striker, would imagine only an 8-12 league goals at best over a season, but if he could learn to image play better he could be a very good option with our lack of strikers.

personally i feel its dm. he can win tackles, strong, great at using his body to win positions. he only has long shots in him so its perfect for him to arrive late outside the box to take the odd shot. hes not good at making incisive passes but is decent at beating first man and making a side pass, which is one of the traits of a dm that can spark counters. imagine he wins the ball, use his body, turns, side pass to a better dribbler or passer to push up, job done. hes also decent at spraying long side passes to lrb, so i personally think his best position is dm

He had an astonishing half season playing alongside Sandro so we know he has it in him.

Dembele's best position? The position he played for Fulham when he single-handedly tore Untd a new one at Old Trafford a few years back... Central, ball carrier, box to box player.
Personally I'd have him beside Bentlaleb in the middle of the park (Ahead of Mason).
All great teams have great partnerships - upfront: if playing with two strikers, midfield:a central pairing and in Defence for the centre backs.
They need time together, need to be different types but complimentary etc etc
That's how great teams are made.

He's a gifted footballer but totally lacking in vision. If only he learned to pass the ball first time or as soon as he's past his man but alas he has to do it time and again.
Is he too old to learn?

He is gifted but there's too much of Huddlestone in him. He can pass, shoot and dribble but he doesn't cover enough ground so I'm not sure Poch thinks he'll play the pressing game he wants. At 28 he either finds his position soon or we move him on, as we're not overloaded with central midfielders I hope we keep him.
