I was thinking the other day that these injuries to Rose and Vertonghen were reminiscent of when we went through a bad patch of form earlier in the season and had a busy period of games.

I don't see them as big a players as Toby and Harry but they are probably on the next rung down of importance to miss.

Mauricio Pochettino admits Tottenham are suffering a succession of injuries at an unfortunate time as his squad enter a crucial month featuring six matches in three competition

“It’s a shame because all the injuries are for reasons we cannot manage,” he said. “It’s a knock here, another knock there, a bad tackle - you know.

“But it’s true we now have ahead a very busy period because we have the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League and we need all the players in good condition to try to fight.

“It looks similar to what happened when we were playing in the Champions League, remember, and we had a few problems like this. We hope that in this situation the results will be different to what happened in November.

“I think now February is important. It’s a month that will mark our objective until the end of the season. Every game will be massive and be very important for us.”

If we brought properly in the summer then we would have mitigated against the injuries having said that its unfortunate that the main injuries have been in defense.

If Janssen scored even two goals in his stint whilst Kane was injured we would be say four points better off. It's frustrating that it could come down to our business earlier

Why do some of our supporters always look on the dark side . if we hadnt have bought Wanyama we by your reckoning would have had considerably less points then we have now as he has been one of our best players this season.

Because in the words of poch. .. We always need to focus on improving. You enhance your strengths and correct your deficiencies. That's not science. Just just pure common sense.

The clear deficiency we have is the bench, we don't have enough game changers.

It's unfortunate, but we can't use it as an excuse. Injuries are part of the game and we were lucky last season to keep most players fit throughout.

Shows that this talk of "we can't sign top players because they won't want to play second fiddle"
is bollocks. Quality players believe they can make a difference and only a certain few egomaniacs will only come for a guaranteed starting place.

You need real quality in depth because injuries come at any moment. Particularly if we want to compete in multiple positions and win a trophy. We also don't have enough on the bench to change a game.

I'm using it as an excuse all day long if we compare it to our rival's situations. If Chelsea can keep £200k a week Fabregas on the bench and Man Utd can keep £200k Mata on the bench and we have Janssen Nkoudou and Sissoko then we will always struggle in comparison.

We obviously can't compete with those teams re wages, but we still spent plenty of money in the summer and I don't think we did a particularly good job with it. Of the three players you mentioned, two aren't ready for this league yet (and it's debatable whether Janssen ever will be) and the other was a panic buy imo.

How long until Poch says, we need more depth in the squad and there are still fans who don't think he plays to Levy tune during transfer windows?

I love poch, he is going to be a great at Spurs I truly believe it... but I still do not understand why before Jan he said the squad needs strengthening, yet through all of Jan he said it was good enough and already 4 days since window closing he is raising concern over squad due to injuries!

It wont be long I guarantee it before he says we need more depth.

yes January is a hard month but we showed no ambition once again if you believe all the ITKs.

it's very difficult to upgrade on what we already have without paying them big money, we could have done better with Sissoko purchase but Janssen and Nkoudou were bought for the future, we are always going to have this problem tbh.

no players available in Jan apparently, that Niang @ 6m looks a steal given a few years ago he was rated a 20m+ player.... we are bound to get linked to him at some point and pay double that if he continues this form

Can't have it both ways, when we do try and strengthen we end up with Janssen (who I think will eventually come good) and Sissoko (Panic buy). The club's stance is correct on this...we need to be smart with our money and plan to get the best personnel in rather than needlesley gamble just because we need more depth.

Niang doesn't impress me but he scored today and so did Gabbiadini in their first weeks, yet we have mr penalty king.

Just back from the game and looks like Wanyama has done his groin or pulled a thigh muscle. Hope it doesn't keep him out next weekend.

Strange there's no mention of this anywhere online. Just checked twitter. Hopefully it was just cramp or his huge tackle needing readjusting

Thought it may have been cramp, but he was down for a bit while the ball was out of play and then as soon as the final whistle went he was straight down on the floor holding his thigh. Limped off. Fingers crossed as once again he was our best player.

Sissoko is the only summer signing that left me baffled because it's not like he's an unknown quantity unless he was brought in as CAM cover and i'm clinging to the hope that we see the version that was at the Euro's at some point or i'll be bemused as was he not agreed and done in the middle of the window rather than a panic buy?

Janssen far too young and too early to write off as from everything i've seen during MP's charge is it seems to mostly take about 6 months to click obviously there are exceptions but that's what i notice, which could be pooh-pooh but remember...

Seems okay in post match interview...

Please dont be injured big vic, that would just sum our luck up at present if he now got injured :(

pool will be loving this with our injuries going into Sat game.... so shit

Please be Ok Vic - and no more injuries this week, we need Verts and Rose back ASAP but seems Rose could be out for a while - why else would we be referring him to a specialist???!!!

We need some luck over these last few months with injuries to secure 2nd which I would love - especially if we can get the FA cup too :)
