Numbers actually support manager's belief that his more subtle changes throughout season are perfect approach to the busy schedule

I really found this article interesting when comparing the number of games our players have played to our nearest rivals.

So far Poch has handled it very well contrary to what I thought before I read the article.

I still believe players like Dier and Alderweireld need a break at some point.

That's why I think Carter Vickers has been given a squad number for the Europa games.

It's a much better approach than we've seen with other managers in the past. It means the first XI can also then cope much better with changes as the squad has been blended together.

There was clearly a strategy behind buying Davies and then Tripper, much more than simply back ups in the system.

We don't have like for like options in dm or at cf, however, the other two critical functions and the latter simply must be addressed belatedly in the summer. Competition for each shirt is a must if as we all hope we can qualify for the CL.

Can Toby, Dier and Harry keep it up, at Upton Park, Stamford Bridge and Anfield? Lets fackin hope so.

The advantage of not making too many changes from match to match is that the players get used to the way others play and are likely to react. It must help to integrate new players into the system and, over the season would mean that everyone knows what to do whenever they are called on.

I must say I was surprised at the numberof matches that individuals have played, I thought it would have been more.

Hasn't CCV simply replaced Fazio?

I think Carter Vickers should be given a chance against Palace in the Cup. After all, Palace are having a poor run of form. They find it difficult to score. It would be interesting to see how CCV and Wimmer cope with old man Ade, if he plays, that is. Bentaleb for Dier as well, to give the youngster a rest.

I think it's more likely Carter Vickers is on the bench with Dier and Wimmer at centre half. Toby gets a rest. Bentaleb in midfield, probably with Mason or Carroll and if the game looks comfortable Dier is taken off for Carter Vickers.

I was surprised to see the number of games Kane has played compared to Giroud. Giroud has played a lot more then I thought.

these upcoming 3 matches are the moments to bench Kane and Dier. If we don't have the team to get through these cups then we are not likely to get much further with a tired Dier and Kane. 2 weeks rest should see them through the season - I know it's not going to happen though.

good news that N'jie should be back early March - I think he'll be needed as an impact sub in the EPL and can play any cup games that we're still involved in.

The system or philosophy dictates that most of our attack comes via the wider fullbacks, the players Poch has interchanged regularly. But this season more than last every player knows and plays their part.
